Yesterday (12 july 2013) brought us the sad news that Pran, the legendary villain of 1950s and 60s who then turned a legendary character actor of later decades had breathed his last. He subsequently made a mark as a hero in Lahore movie circles.

“Kashish” (1980) is a movie of recent vintage by the standards of this blog, but I had never heard of this movie before. And very little informations seems to be available about this movie. Accordng to imdb, this movie was direced by written and directed by Amin Q Chaudhary and this movie had Navin Nischol, Vinod Mehra and Reena Roy. That plus the information that B R Ishara was also involved in writing the story, is all the information that seems to be available about this movie.

It has been quite a while since I last talked about my dogs. I have in fact so many things to talk about them that I do not know where to begin.
I had discussed it in the past that my dogs, especially Chhote, the younger one would run away from the home. Sometimes Bhhole, the senior of the two , would also run behind Chhote, mainly to accompany him.

The music of “Saawan Bhaadon” (1970) was instantly lapped up by aam janta as soon as the songs of this movie became available. The energy and the verve with which these songs were sung made them extremely popular with music lovers, especially the least sophisticated among them like for instance kids in the under 10 years age category. 🙂

Recently I wrote up a 1970s song here and today I’m presenting another 1970s song.
I know that by the standards of this blog, the 1970s is a fairly recent decade. Most of the songs here are from an earlier period – and I love this because it gives me an opportunity to listen to, and learn about, so many forgotten gems of an earlier era. I will never forget the thrill I got when I heard “halla gulla lai la (Dholak – 1951)” for the first time – it has since become one of my FAVOURITE songs! Actually I’d always been interested in old songs but thanks to the internet and this blog, my interest has not only been encouraged, it has also been sharpened in the last few years.
