Today’s song is from the film Mangala-1950. It is a duet of Shamshad Begum and T.A.Moti. This is also the last song of this series.
In this series, we have heard,so far, 9 duets of Shamshad Begum, from her early films in the 40s. From the first film of hers in Bombay (Taqdeer) to her first film in Madras(Mangala), we have heard duets with 9 different singers, featuring Motilal, Surendra, K S Raagi, Ram Kamlani, Anil Biswas, G M Durani, Sulochana Kadam, Lata and Chitalkar and today is the 10th singer T.A.Moti. I wanted to include her duets with S D Batish, Geeta Dutt, Mohd.Rafi and Surinder Kaur, but it was not possible to accomodate them in this series.

Till 1947, Hindi films were made in Bombay, Lahore, Calcutta and Poona. Most studios were located in these cities. South Indian language films were made mainly in Madras and Bangla films were made in Calcutta and Dhaka.

When needy people need help, they often appeal for help, and help pours in from all quarters. When I discussed the previous Zohrabai ambalewaali song, i mentioned that I was struggling to get Zohrabai Ambalewaali songs to discuss. After a gap of almost a week or so, I am returning to the series,” DEBUT OR FIRST FILM SONGS”,with the 9th song .
Readers will recollect that while discussing the Debut song of Madhubala Jhaveri, I had spoken of (or rather written about ) COMETS in the film industry. Today we will take a look at one more such comet, who came, sang songs and returned from where he came-on his own free will.
