In my definition, Chaayaageet song is one which is sung in the period between 10 PM to midnight. :D. That way, a song talking about a period after midnight is not a chaagyaageet song. May be I should call such a song as “post Chaayaageet period” song.

I have not watched this movie called “Bachpan” (1970) but I recently stumbled upon this song from the movie. This song “aaya re khilaune waala” appears in the movie several times (at least four times) including at the end of the movie.

Here is a “roadside tamasha” song from “Biraadari” (1966). In this song Shashi Kapoor and Memmood, donning striped lungis 😀 give a vigorous and boisterous dance performance. Such dances are right up the alley of Mehmood, but even Shashi Kapoor gamely hangs on and manages to keep pace with Mehmood.

There are people who preach us to save for a rainy day. If you talk to me about saving for a rainy day,I will reel off the list of songs picturised on a rainy day to try and prove that rainy days are as much fun as sunny days. If one does not save for a sunny day, then why should one do so for a rainy day ? One should instead enjoy rainy days by getting drenched in the rain instead of hiding indoors. Next thing you know, the same people may ask us to save for a moonlit night saying that nights are for going to bed !

When you are young, you only like to listen to “modern” songs and hate listening to old songs calling them boring. Here is a song that was old even by my standards of 1970s when I was growing up. But show me a song that could be more modern than this by now 51 year old song.

I have mentioned it many times that Chitragupta, despite his outstanding musical talent would not go out and socialise with big wigs of the industry and that is what prevented him from landing big banner movies. For instance, the first time he was introduced to raj Kapoor was in late 1980s by his sons Anand and Milind, and on meeting him, Raj Kapoor said that he was a big fan of Chitragupta and he would have loved to work with Chitragupta had he met him in their heydays.

There are few actors in Hindi cinema of yesteryear who evoke as much passion in film-lovers as Shammi Kapoor. He came into cinema at a time when pathos ruled and emotional tragedies, a la Devdas, were the order of the day. Although he made an effort to fit in, he was thankfully (for all of us) a miserable failure in his efforts.
