This song is among the most difficult songs that has been sung in Bollywood movies. For one, the singers are called upon to sing in a wide range of frequencies, and secondly, it is a semi classical song, where one needed to sing not just one raag, but as many as four raagas. This is a “new” song for me, though it is from a 1965 movie called “Oonche Log”. The lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri are heavy duty Urdu stuff, which are difficult to decipher. But knowing Majrooh Saab, it must surely mean something profound.

I stumbled upon this song from a forgotten movie called “Aulaad”. What a song for nostalgia buffs this turns out to be ! This song is sung by Rafi under the music direction of Chitragupta ( father of Anand Milind) and Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.

For a long time, I have been confused between this song and the song “aaj kal tere mere pyaar ke charche har zubaan par”. There was much in common between these songs. Both songs were sung by Rafi for Shammi Kapoor and Shankar Jaikishan were the music director in both cases.
