I just realised two facts. One fact is that the hair of leading ladies in Hindi movies play an important part in Hindi movies, especially in songs. when the Hero needs to sing a song in praise of her, what are the things about her that he can mention? He will sing about her face- likening it to Chaand(Moon), he will sing about her eyes, likening them to deep lakes. Another important body part that find much mention in the paens that hero sings for the lady are her hairs, which are called “zulf” in Hindi song parlance and they are often likened to Ghata (viz black rain bearing clouds). Heroine being compared to moon, lakes, cloud ! Hindi movie lyricists must have paid enough attention in their geography classes, it would seem to me, at least when these geographical topics were being discussed.

“Bahaarein Phir Bhi Aayengi” (1966) is a movie that had Mala Sinha, Dharmendra and Tanuja in lead roles. As far as I am concerned, I know this song only for its title song (Badal jaaye agar maali…bahaarein phir bhi aayengi (Bahaarein Phir Bhi Aayengi ) ) which is so inspirational to listen to.

“Bahu” (1953) is an obscure movie by now. Like many obscure movies of those days, even this movie has some nice and wonderful songs in it that not too many people know about. Stumbling upon such songs is always a rewarding experience.

I receive hundreds of farmaishes for songs that are not yet posted in this blog. Many of these farmaishes are for songs that are well known and/or relatively easily avaiable. Sometimes though, there are farmaishes for songs that are very difficult to find. There are cases where the farmaish giver was desperately seeking the song for years and even decades without success. It is highly satisfying for me when sometimes I am actually able to locate these elusive songs after some nice detective work.
