Dil se dil milne ka koi kaaran hoga

Posted on: August 26, 2008

This song is from circa 1970s, picturised on Sanjeev Kumar and Sharmila Tagore on a hill station. Do you say “mausam” ? Think again.

This song is from a movie that was released one year prior to “mausam”. Lata Mangeshkar is indeed the female singer, but the male singer here is Kishore Kumar, and the music director is R D Burman. For the record, R D Burman could do no wrong in those days. But the same could not be said about the makers of the movies in which he gave music.

The movie called “Charitraheen” sank without a trace and that may be the main reason why this song has been forgotten by most fans. But those who lived in that era must have certainly heard this song. It is as good as any composed by R D Burman. In fact, I heard this song many times while trying to get the lyrics of the song correctly, and I loved the song every time.

Those who have never heard this song before will definitely enjoy listening to this song for the first time, I am sure.

Song- Dil se dil milne ka koi kaaran hoga (Charitraheen )(1974) Singers-Lata, Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD- R D Burman

Lyrics

ho ho ho ho
dil se dil milne ka koyi kaaran hogaa
bina kaaran koyi baat nahin hoti
dil se dil milne ka koyi kaaran hogaa
bina kaaran koyi baat nahin hoti
dil se dil milne kaa koyi kaaran hogaa

waise to ham donon ek dooje se hain abhi anjaane
waise to ham donon ek dooje se hain abhi anjaane
koyi agar dekhe to kahe barson ke hain meet puraane
ho ho ho ho
kuchh hai tum mein ham mein
warnaa is mausam mein
phoolon ki aisii baaraat nahin hoti
dil se dil milne ka koyi kaaran hogaa

honaa ho hum tum me pyar hai shaq isme nahi hai koi
honaa ho hum tum me pyar hai shaq isme nahi hai koi
are do hi mulaqaaton me nigode naino ne nindiya khoi
ho ho
kaise din beetenge kaise din beetenge ab to basar ek raat nahin hoti
dil se dil milne ka koyi kaaran hogaa

ho ho ho ho
jaane kahaan se aaye ho tum ham aaye kahaan se jaane
aji tumko Khabar naa hamako pataa dil kaise mile deewaane
jaane kahaan se aaye ho tum ham aaye kahaan se jaane
ho ho ho ho
shaayad ham donon kaa
haan ek hi rastaa hogaa
warnaa hamaari mulaaqaat nahin hoti

dil se dil milne ka koyi kaaran hogaa
bina kaaran koyi baat nahin hoti
dil se dil milne ka koyi kaaran hogaa

Translation

there has to be a reason why the two of us have taken a liking for each other
nothing happens without a reason, so there must be a reason for that

though we are still strangers for each other
if someone looks at us, he may think that we know each other for years
there must be something in common between the two of us
otherwise why would the two of us be here in this place and weather

there is no doubting the fact that we are in love with each other
we have lost our sleeps after just a couple of meetings
how are we going to spend out days without each other
spending even one night alone is unimaginable now
there has to be a reason why two herats fall in love with each other

we are unaware about each others background
we must have common destination
otherwise we would not have met each other

there has to be a reason why the two of us have taken a liking for each other
nothing happens without a reason, so there must be a reason for that

Very sweet song….indeed the movie totally flopped…am happy to see that this very pleasant song is being revived here.

Raja, I have been rediscovering some very nice songs from those days, and subject to availability of videos, I am presenting those songs here.
In some cases, videos are not available, but those songs are still so nice to listen to. I am considering whether I should just put an audio link in case of such songs.

Indeed that may not be a bad idea.
What you are building here is a sort of encyclopaedia in the form of a geetmala.

Your tags will ensure that people can access songs whichever way they like…by year, singer, MD, lyricist, theme etc.

And the encyclopaedia is not just factual, it also has a nice background and description for each song…

It is just fantastic.

In this situation, just because a video is not available, it would be a pity if a song is not included. If you just put the audio in, maybe somebody puts in the video sometime…you can always then add the video later…maybe on the title line, you say (audio only, video wanted)…

A good song is a good song, whether video is available or not.

Yes, I am thinking of doing that in case of songs where I could not locate videos.

Atul
for many of the songs I am getting error saying video removed., what is the remedy for that? If we try after sometime also it will not come.
PLease help.

When such errors come it means that youtube or user has removed the video. Then the only solution is to provide an alternative link.

Now I have provided an alternative working link

There is another song from this movie- Teri Meri Meri Teri Yaari Badi Purani……
Club dance scene…….I think Yogita Bali dancing .
Sanjeev Kumar and Sharmaila Tagore look smashing in this song.
Definitely a song to be included in this blog.

Here is a good quality song .
