I have read a lot about this song, but it is only now, 58 years after this song was composed, that I have finally listened to this song. After listening to it twice, I must say that I am quite impressed.

“Ganga Jamuna Saraswati” was a Manmohan Desai movie produced in 1988. In my opinion, Manmohan Desai was taking his audience for a ride by that time and was even succeeding.

The movie “Suraj” had some very nice songs. And quite a few songs were picturised on the beautiful Mysore gardens.

Kishore Kumar, regarded as a singer of happy songs, has sung some fantastic sad/ serious songs in his career too. “Amar Prem” in fact had not one, but quite a few serious songs. Anand Bakshi was the lyricist and R D Burman was the music director of this movie.

India of 1970 was a much more simple,unsophisticated, and underdeveloped in most respects. So much so that movie makers who decided to make different off beat movies were left in the lurch. Raj Kapoor was one such movie maker who paid heavily for overestimating the calibre of his audience. His ambitious labour of love “Mera Naam Joker” fell flat at the box office.
