Aao aao jaane jahaan

Posted on: February 8, 2009

Few people have heard the name of the movie and few people have heard this song. But this song “aao aao jaane jahaan” quickly grows up upon its listeners. I listened to this song from “Gomti Ke Kinnare” (1972) yesterday for the first time. During the first hearing, I wondered what the fuss was all about, but after listeneing to it a second time, I was hooked.

How I hope that many more people may have got the opportunity to listen to this`song a few times. It is obvious to me that there are very few people are actually aware of this song.

This Asha Bhonsle song was written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by R D Burman. It is a party song picturised on Mumtaz.

Song-Aao aao jaane jahaan (Gomti Ke Kinaare) (1972) Singers-Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-R D Burman

ru ru rururururu
ru ru rururururu
kya jaanoo tum bin thi kya dil ko bekarari
mehfil thi mehfil thi deewani thi tuhaari
chain aaya jab dekhi ye soorat pyaari pyaari
aao jaane jahaan
aao jaane jahaan
dil ne dhoondha tumhe kahaan kahaan

aao ham bhi aaye hain baahon ke haar leke
hothon pe ek naghma
aankhon me pyaar leke
is dil ke sheeshe me tasveere yaar leke
aao jaane jahaan
dil ne dhoondha tumhen kahaan kahaan
aao jaane jahaan

ulfat hai ya kya hai
kuch kam hai dil ki uljhan
pahle thi haay se
ab chanchal hai ye chitwan
tum choolo kuchh aise
lahraaye mera tanman
aao jaane jahaan
dil ne dhoondha tumhe kahan kahan
aao jaane jahaan

Had heard of the movie and maybe even seen it as a young boy.
Do not remember the song though.

Nice song.
The hero is the brother of Feroze and Sanjay Khan, isn’t he ?

This song needs to be tagged as both a party song and as a piano song.

Sameer is the brother of Sanjay Khan and Feroz Khan. Another brother, Akbar Khan acted as well. None of them should have taken to acting,,, Horrible actors.

Sameer also acted in Pasand Apni Apni (1970’s) with Simi and Pyar Ka Rishta (1974) with Mumtaz, Shatru, Vinod K, Balraj Sahni, Nirupa Roy, Nadira, Johnny Walker. etc. And the most unusual pairing of Shankar Jaikishan with Shakeel Badayuni. There were a couple of catchy songs there: “Aansoo ko pasine mein badlo” and “Dekho dil na lisika toote” by Rafi who was in the shadow of Kishore by then.

I whole heartedly agree with you about their “acting” prowess. 😀
