Tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa

Mukesh was a specialist in singing “dard bhare gaane” ( songs full of pain and pathos). I have not posted such a Mukesh song for quite some time. So here I post one such song.
The movie is “Bhabhi ki Choodiyaan”, known primarily for its timeless Lata classic song “jyoti kalash chhalke” (already posted).
This song “Tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaaya” salutes the contribution of a “Bhabhi” (wife of elder brother), who is regarded as second only to “Maa” in Bollywood movie as well as in Indian society.
So, in a way, this song is a tribute to “Bhabhi”. Just as there were some well known “Maa” in Bollywood movies, we had some well known “Bhabhis” and Meena Kumari was one of the most well known among them. Here she plays a supremely sacrificing Bhabhi in true “Bhartiya nari” tradition.
The lyricist was Pt. Narendra Sharma who comes up with “shuddh” Hindi lyrics for this song, just like he did it for “Jyoti kalash chhalke”. Sudhir Phadke composed the music.
The song as well as its picturisation is quite nice and moving.
Song-Tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa (Bhabhi ki choodiyaan) (1961) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Pt Narendra Sharma, MD-Sudhir Phadke
Lyrics
dar bhi thaa thin deewaaren bhi
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa
soonaa mandir thaa man meraa bujhaa deep thaa jeewan meraa
soonaa mandir thaa man meraa bujhaa deep thaa jeewan meraa
pratimaa ke paavan charnon mein main deepak bankar muskaayaa
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa
devaalay ban gayaa suhaavan
maan tumse meraa ghar-aangan
devaalay ban gayaa suhaavan
maan tumse meraa ghar-aangan
aanchal ki mamtaa maayaa mein paayi sukh ki sheetal chhaayaa
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa
kaise ho gungaan tumhaaraa
jo kuchh hai vardaan tumhaaraa
kaise ho gungaan tumhaaraa
jo kuchh hai vardaan tumhaaraa
tumne hi mere jeewan ke
sapnon ko sach kar dikhlaayaa
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa
aankhen meri jyoti tumhaari
rah na gayin raahen andhiyaari
aankhen meri jyoti tumhaari
rah na gayin raahen andhiyaari
rahne do mere maathe par
maan tumne jo haath badhaayaa
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa
tumse hi ghar ghar kahlaayaa

Great song. It would be hard to find a better tribute to mother.
I first heard the song first when I saw the movie long ago and
heard many more times each time I get more impressed by
purity and devotion of lyrics, music and rendetion by Mukeshji.
Picturisation is great too.

what were the days where bahus were tortured at the same time ,bhabhi used to be the mother for the dever, and what respect was given to bhabhi that u can visualise in this film..what a song sung by mukesh and he brought tears in the eyes of the audience in those days that is what i have seen with my own eyes. people used to cry when this song was to be seen in this film.. all respect goes to director ,singer and writer. and not the least composer.
