on:I have heard this song many a times without knowing which movie this song was from. I was under the impression that this song was from some movie of 1960s.
So imagine my surprise when I realised that this movie was from “Adalat” (1976). This sing is sung by Rafi and Lata. Gulshan Baawra wrote the song and Kalyanji Anandji were the music directors.
This song sounds like a timeless classic ( which it certainly is), but what about the picturisation ? The picturisation totally spoils all the seriousness and gravity with which this song has been sung, and the picturisation of song has made it inadvertently funny.
The picturisation shows Amitabh Bachchan and Neetu Singh on the run from baddies who are hot on their pursuit. Now I would think that running away from baddies is not the right moment to sing a duet, but that is precisely what they do. they would run away a little distance, then watch to ensure that the villains were not visible, and sing a stanza of the duet. Then they would run away som more distance, again look back for the villains, the coast would be suitably clear to enable them to sing the nexrt stanza.. and so on.
If you are running away from baddies, then making any kind of noise to attract their attention is suicidal, but apparently , our hero and heroine are not aware of this basis principle of being fugitives. I hope they were caught up by the short arms of the unlawful elements ( I could identify Viju Khote aka Kaalia as one of the baddies) after the song was over. What else do you expect when you are making such a racket singing a duet when youhave more pressing matters at hand !

Lyrics
Ho tumse door rehke
ho tumse door rehke hamne jaana pyaar kya hai
dil ne maana yaar kya hai
ho tumse door rehke
ho tumse door rehke hamne jaana pyaar kya hai
dil ne maana yaar kya hai,
oh oh
oh tumse door rehke
dooriyaan kis liye mil gaye hain jo ham
ab to hone do armaan poore sanam
ab to hone do armaan poore sanam
waqt aane se mit jaayengi dooriyaan
jab na hongi zamaane ki majbooriyaan
jab na hongi zamaane ki majbooriyaan
oh tumse door rehke, oh tumse door rehke
hamne jaana pyaar kyaa hai
dil ne maaana yaar kyaa hai
oh tumse door rahke
oh tumse door rahke
