I bet few people are aware of a 1956 movie called “Inspector”. I was not. I became aware of this movie only yesterday.
This movie had Ashok Kumar and Geeta Bali in lead roles.
I came across this song called “Dil chhed koyi aisa naghma”. It is a piano song. Geeta Bali sits on a piano and sings this song in a party.
And what a gem of a song ! I wonder how such songs get forgotten with time ? These songs deserve to be counted as timeless classics.
It is my duty to bring such songs to the notice of music lovers. So here is this superb Lata song from “Inspector” (1956). S H Bihari is the lyricist and Hemant Kumar is the music director.
PS-Subsequently I have discovered that this song also has a male version which is sung by Hemant Kumar. Both versions have identical lyrics. Video of male version does not appear to be available, whereas the video of female version is of poor quality. Here I have provided audio of both the versions, as well as the video of the female version of the song.

Who is the singer in THIS video? Hemant Kumar?
All the videos that have Lata ji singing, are poorly downloaded-shaky.
