I have posted a few amazing songs from “Ek Thi Ladki” (1949). This movie had music by Vinod and lyrics by Aziz Kashmiri. As far as the movie was concerned, this movie had Meena Shorey stealing the show all the way in all the songs.

Helen was known for her one mandatory dance in most movies of 1960s and 1970s. This would typically be a cabaret dance where she would sing and dance in a club. Another variation was where she would sing and dance to seduce the hero.

Ganesh, the younger brother of Pyarelal ( of Laxmikant Pyarelal fame) had assisted his brother in their earlier movies, including “Parasmani”. In fact, it is said that Ganesh and Shashikant ( brother of Laxmikant) had played big roles behind the success of their brothers in that movie.

I have posted over a thousand songs in this blog so far. Most songs are 3 to 4 minutes long and their lyrics are about 200 words long. But this qawwali is nearly ten minutes long and its lyrics runs into 800 words !

“Nausherwaan e Adil” (1957) must be an Arabian Night’s tale, going by the title. But the makers of such historical/ mythological movies were not known to care much for authenticity. Thus we find the characters dressed in Greek dresses of a different era. And the biggest faux pas is Mala Sinha is seen wearing a cross !
