Jiska joota usi ka sar
Posted on: July 3, 2009
Here is a fun song which I recall hearing a few times in distant past, but without having any indepth knowledge about the song.
Yesterday, I stumbled upon this song and it was only then that I realised that this song was from “Guest house”(1959). Sung by Mukesh, this song is picturised on Ajit who used to act as hero those days.
Majrooh Sultanpuri wrote this light hearted song and he obviously had the Hindi/Urdu saying “Miyaan ki jooti miyaan ke sar” ( A persons shoe falling on his own head) in his mind while writing this song. Chitragupta composed the music.

Song-Jiska joota usi ka sar (Guest House) (1959) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Prem Dhawan, MD-Chitragupta
Lyrics
jiskaa jootaa usi kaa sar dil hai chhotaa badaa shahar
are waah re waah re teri Bambai
khaayaa dhokhaa gaye jidhar dekho qismat phanse kidhar
are waah re waah teri Bambai
aa ke yahaan kyaa mil gayaa jeb kati aur dil gayaa
rang tere is shahar ke dekh kalejaa hil gayaa
aa ke yahaan kyaa mil gayaa jeb kati aur dil gayaa
rang tere is shahar ke dekh kalejaa hil gayaa
maal na sahi jaan to bachi bhaag bhaag mister
jiskaa jootaa usi kaa sar dil hai chhotaa badaa shahar
are waah re waah re teri Bambai
mem phire kis aan se saath hai kuttaa shaan se
jaanvar se to pyaar hai pyaar nahin insaan se
mem phire kis aan se saath hai kuttaa shaan se
jaanvar se to pyaar hai pyaar nahin insaan se
dekh naazneen ham bhi hain haseen itnaa naaz na kar
jiskaa jootaa usi kaa sar dil hai chhotaa badaa shahar
are waah re waah re teri Bambai
paas mein motor car ho bank mein tees hazaar hon
pyaar yahaan tab keejiye maal ye jab sarkaar ho
paas mein motor car ho bank mein tees hazaar hon
pyaar yahaan tab keejiye maal ye jab sarkaar ho
naa to suit hai naa boot hai dekh pyaar se Dar
jiskaa jootaa usi kaa sar dil hai chhotaa badaa shahar
are waah re waah re teri Bambai
khaayaa dhokhaa gaye jidhar dekho qismat phanse kidhar
are waah re waah teri Bambai
