After quite a while, here is one more Rafi-Shammi Kapoor song. This song in fact features not only the Hero and the heroine, but the entire gang of their friends ( read sidekicks ).
this in fact is a scooter song. Yes, Shammi Kapoor, his sidekick in chief Rajendranath, other sidekicks, all are riding scooters, with a damsel seated behind. The heroine, Sharmila Tagore, like a good Bollywood heroine, dislikes Shammi Kapoor’s advances, and prefers to pillion ride with Rajendranath instead. And Rajendranath is dressed like a sikh gentleman, full with turban , beard etc and he is seemingly enjoying the experience.
Shammi Kapoor, in turn has one of the sahelis of Sharmila Tagore pillion riding with him.
And the song is ? “Hoga tumse kal bhi saamna kal to maanoge”. The song is sung with gusto by Rafi, as was usual with him while giving playback for Shammi Kapoor. Shailendra is the lyricist and Shankar jaikishan composed the music.

Hero’s friend is called sidekick. Is there a similar terminology for heroine’s friends too that I should be aware of ? 😉

What lottery did the girl behind Shammi win? She must have had a field day! She may have fainted after the filming of course. Did I just do that???
