“Laawaaris” (1981) was a movie of the time when Amitabh was at the zenith of his career when the only way for him was to go downhill. Those were the days when moviewatchers went to the movie to watch Amitabh Bachchan the superstar, not Amitabh Bachchan the actor. Amitabh Bachchan and his producers had started to rest on the laurels that he had won in the past years. It was expected that the same old tired storyline would continue to wrk in movie after movie. And so it proved too.
By 1980s, the Bollywood movie music had taken to “disco” music. Even old timer music directors had to compromise and use this kind of music to survive.
Here is a song from “Laawaaris” that makes use of western beats. But it must be said that the music directors, viz Kalyanji Anandji made the most of this kind of music and came up with a song that became popular. I did not like this song at that time, nor did I like the movie, but now I have to admit (grudgingly) that this song is a song that is pleasing to the ears even today, after the passage of some three decades.
The song is sung by Kishore Kumar and it is picturised on Amitabh Bachchan and others. Anjaan is the lyricist.

Except for all the moaning at the start of the song, its a entertaining number.

just found out today that the female dancer’s name is Alka Nupoor who was active from 1979 to 1989. her first appearance was in a movie called “Ek aur suhaagan” and last was in “MIl Gayi Manzil Mujhe” and then she retired

Yes I remember her in another Prakash Mehra movie Mohabbat Ke dusham(starring Hema Malini)and
I remember her in Jugalbandi dance sequence with Meenakshi sheshadri in Bewafai 1985(Rajesh Khanna,Tina Munim,Padmini Kolhapure South potboiler)
another female dancer is ALKA NOOPUR, hope I am right
