Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Tere peechhe phirte phirte ho gayaa pooraa saal re

Posted on: April 30, 2010

“Teasing” songs, where the hero is seen teasing the lady have been there from 1950s. And I mostly find them unrealistic. In real life, one cannot tease a girl like that in India and get away. But in Bollywood songs, the lady, after initial disapproval, begins to respond towards the later parts of the song. I find it difficult to identify with such picturisation.

Some heroes, like say Shammi Kapoor can carry off such picturisations and get away with it. Rajendra Kumar teasing a lady and getting away with it appears far fetched to me. But the award for being the most far fetched “teasing” song must go to this song from ” Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh” (1960). In this song, Bharat Bhushan, of all people (who was already aged) is shown playing a road side Romeo and tease Anita Guha. To add futher marks to the far fetchedness of the situation, She starts responding to his advances right from the beginning of the song itself.

This song, which I find inadvertantly funny because of its picturisation, is sung by Rafi and Kamal Barot Suman Kalyanpur. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and Hansraj Bahl composed the music.

song-Tere peechhe phirte phirte ho gayaa pooraa saal re (Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh) (1960) Singers-Rafi, Suman Kalyanpur, Lyrics-Prem Dhawan, MD-Hansraj Behl

Lyrics

ho ho ho ho ho
tere peechhe
tere peechhe phirte phirte ho gayaa pooraa saal re
gore gore mukhde waali poochh kabhi to haal re
tere peechhe phirte phirte ho gayaa pooraa saal re
gore gore mukhde waali poochh kabhi to haal re
ek saal mein lagaa hai rone aashiq badaa kamaal re
phiraa thaa Laila ke peechhe Majnu to chaudah saal re

ho ho ho
Majnu tha aashiq to Laila ko bhi usse pyaar thaa
Laila ko bhi usse pyaar thaa
jo sachha aashiq miltaa to hamko kab inkaar thaa
ji hamko kab inkaar thaa
aisi waisi baaton se na dil waalon ko taal re
tere peechhe
tere peechhe phirte phirte ho gayaa pooraa saal re
gore gore mukhde waali poochh kabhi to haal re
ek saal mein lagaa hai rone aashiq badaa kamaal re
phiraa thaa Laila ke peechhe Majnu to chaudah saal re

ho ho ho ho
teri tamanna karke ham ghar ke rahe na ghaat ke
ham ghar ke rahe na ghaat ke
Farhaad Shirin ki khaatir
laaya thaa parwat kaat ke
laaya thaa parwat kaat ke
Heer ki khaatir dekho Ranjha ban gayaa Mahiwaal re
ek saal mein
ek saal mein lagaa hai rone aashiq badaa kamaal re
phiraa thaa Laila ke peechhe Majnu to chaudah saal re
tere peechhe phirte phirte ho gayaa pooraa saal re
gore gore mukhde waali poochh kabhi to haal re

ho ho ho ho
jaao Romeo jaao
phirte ho maare maare kyun
phirte ho maare maare kyun
haay teri lat pyaari
yun udkar mujhe pukaare kyun
yun udkar mujhe pukaare kyun
pehle hi to pyaar mein tere huaa mera ye haal re
tere peechhe
tere peechhe phirte phirte ho gayaa pooraa saal re
gore gore mukhde waali poochh kabhi to haal re
ek saal mein lagaa hai rone aashiq badaa kamaal re
phiraa thaa Laila ke peechhe Majnu to chaudah saal re

very nice up load.
Singers: Mohd. Rafi with Suman Kalyanpur.
Please make the necessary change.
thank you.

The female voice cannot be Suman Kalyanpur’s, In my opinion. The voice sounds like Kamal Barot’s.

Well, I don’t know whether it is Suman or Kamal but this song is cute ! Ok, seeing Bharat Bhushan in this type of role is funny in itself but even the lyrics are cute. Had never heard this one before. Thanks, Atul.

Working Video Link

Please correct, the female voice of Sumanji not Kamal Barot.

Waiting comments from experts about the female voice. I’m sure its not Kamal Barot. Please check above audio and video link again as the audio of YT link available at that time was not so good.

Anekant ji,

The correction has been made to the above post. The name of the female singer is changed to Suman Kalyanpur.

Sudhir

Thanks Sudhir Sir for correction.
