I have posted many songs in this blog where the hero and heroine are going on a drive and the hero (if he is a singing type, viz Dev Anand) bursts into a song. Then we have cases of historical/ mythological movies where the duo are riding on a chariot. If the hero is a non-singing type (like Dara Singh) then the onus of singing falls on the tender shoulders of the heroine (typically Mumtaz).

I am not much familar with this movie called “Milaap” (1955). Apparently it was a suspense movie directed by Raj Khosla. The movie had Dev Anand, Geeta Bali, K N Singh, Tuntun,Johny Walker, Tuntun etc. The star cast is quite impressive, and this appears to be good movie to watch if one can get hold of it.

In “Aan” (1952) stern faced Nadira played the female lead opposite Dilip Kumar. This movie had several songs in it. The songs sung by Male voice has been lip synced by Dilip Kumar but the female songs are mostly sung by maid servants of Nadira and not by Nadira herself.

This happens with me many a times. I listen to a song and like it. And then I forget all about it. I have no clue about the identity of the song, except that it was a song sung by a particular singer.

“Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiyaa” (1966) is a movie that is full of sensational songs but these songs were criminally wasted thanks to the boring and painful plot. Even leaving the brain behind (recommended for watching Hindi movies) does not work. One can enjoy these songs only when the characters on whom the song is picturised enjoy it, seeing that it is a romantic song. But the storyline ensures that Nutan is in no position to enjoy Dharmendra’s advances. She is not what Dharmendra thinks she is, rather she is a look alike and wife of Dharmendra’s best friend-Rehman) to boot. To make matters worse, Dharmendra wooing her has Rehman’s tacit approval too.

It is often said that Hindi movie are enjoyed the best when you leave your brain behind. And when it comes to Dara Singh movies, it helps even more if one did not have a brain to begin with. 😀 Dara Singh movies are good brainless entertainment, and they are grade Z gems, as someone lovingly puts it in youtube. Brainless entertainment and grade Z gems- waah ! There cannot be higher “praise” than that for Dara Singh movies !

I recently discovered the songs of “Maai Baap” (1957). I also found that Johny Walker played a long role (a comedian villain) in this movie. He had more than one song in this movie.

The first line of this song is identical to the “Dil Hi To Hai” (1963) song (Nigaahen milaane ko jee chahta hai(Dil hi to hai)), but this song is an entirely different song. This song is from an earlier movie, namely “Paraayi Aag” (1948).
