In 1950s and 1960s, we were treated to some wonderful ghazals, typically sung by Talat Mehmood/Rafi/Lata and typically composed by Madan Mohan.
Here is a superb ghazal from that era, but the creators of this ghazal are not the usual suspects. On the other hand, the artists involved in this ghazal are rather unlikely names. This song is sung by Geeta Dutt. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and Shailesh Mukherji is the music director. The movie is called “Sawera” (1958) and this movie, though not remembered much today, is full of some awesome compositions of various genre.
