Mushqil hai bahut mushqil

“Mahal” (1949) was a movie starring Asho Kumar and a very young Madhubala. This movie is also remembered as the one which launched Lata’s career as a playback singer. Her songs in this movie became very popular and one of the songs, viz Aayega aanewaala aayega became a timeless classic.
Here is another song from this movie. It is sung by Lata and picturised on Madhubala. Nakshab is the lyricist and music is composed by Khemchand Prakash. Listening to this song is a divine experience. The song sounds as fresh as it must have sounded sixty years ago when this song was recorded.
Song-Mushqil hai bahut mushqil (Mahal) (1949) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Nakshab, MD-Khemchand Prakash
Lyrics
mushkil hai
mushkil hai
mushkil hai bahut mushkil
chaahat kaa bhulaa denaa
chaahat kaa bhulaa denaa
aasaan nahin dil ki ye aag bujhaa denaa
ye aag bujhaa denaa
ye khel nahin lekin
ye khel hai ulfat kaa
ye khel nahin lekin
ye khel hai ulfat kaa
roton ko hansaa denaa
hanston ko rulaa denaa
hanston ko rulaa denaa
mushkil hai bahut mushkil
dilwaalon ki duniyaa mein
hai rasm ke jab koi
dilwaalon ki duniyaa mein
hai rasm ke jab koi
aaye to qadam lenaa,
jaaye to duaa denaa
jaaye to duaa denaa
mushkil hai bahut mushkil
uljhan hai bahut phir bhi
ham tum ko naa bhoolenge
tum ko naa bhoolenge
uljhan hai bahut phir bhi
ham tum ko naa bhoolenge
tum ko naa bhoolenge
mumkin to nahin lekin
tum ham ko bhulaa denaa
tum ham ko bhulaa denaa
mushkil hai bahut mushkil
chaahat kaa bhulaa denaa
chaahat kaa bhulaa denaa
mushkil hai bahut mushkil

“kehne mein nautanki`sa lagta hai, par maine jo ladai ki taraha kiya, mere bhai logon se aisa hi karta hoon, bahut baar, aisa hi aapke saath kiya, nothing more than that. Jo dil mein aata hai, bake deta hoon, aur baad mein pachtaata hoon”
This is one of my last explaination regarding this.

You must really enjoy the old melodies. Wow. What an effort to put this together. Thanks for sharing. The back ground of individual songs is so good.

When I got this connection I was very glad to hear this song. I saw the movie when I was 8 or 9 years old in Bombay with my father. It is great to hear the old songs which are so fresh ever
