Jabse ham tum bahaaron mein

Posted on: March 13, 2011

“Main Shaadi Karne Chalaa” (1962) is a B grade movie going by its star cast which reads Feroz Khan, Mumtaz, Rajendra Nath, Tabassum, I S Johar, Saeeda Khan etc. Those were the days when Feroz Khan and Mumtaz had yet to become actors of A grade movies.

The B grade movies of those days had A grade music and musically they were indisinguishable from A grade movie music, but for the fact that songs of B grade movies often remained un-heard by mainstream music lovers.

Here is a superb song from this movie which I heard for the first time only a few hours ago. This song is a duet which has two versions. One version is sung by Mukesh and Kamal Barot. The other version is sung by Rafi and Suman Kalyanpur. Only the audio of this song is available, so I am unable to say for sure how these two songs are picturised on the screen. My guess is that the Mukesh-Kamal Barot duet is picturised on I S Johar and Saeeda Khan and the Rafi-Suman Kalyanpur duet on Feroz Khan and Mumtaz. I request my knowledgeable readers to tell us more about this song and its picturisation.

Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and music is composed by Chitragupta.

Here is this superb song, both the versions, from this forgotten movie.

Mukesh, Kamal Barot version- picturised on I S Johar and Saeeda Khan

Rafi,Suman Kalyanpur version-picturised on Feroz Khan and Mumtaz

Song-Jabse ham tum baharon mein (Main Shaadi Karne Chalaa) (1962) Singers-Mukesh, Kamal Barot, Rafi, Suman Kalyanpur, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Chitragupta

jab se ham tum,
bahaaron mein,
ho baithe gum,
nazaaron mein
jaise ye zindagi,
jaagi aankhon ka khwaab hai
jab se ham tum,
bahaaron mein,
ho baithe gum,
nazaaron mein
jaise ye zindagi,
jaagi aankhon ka khwaab hai

milnaa to thhaa hamen,
is dil ki raah mein
afsaanaa ban gaye,
deewaane jiski chaah mein
milnaa to thhaa hamen,
is dil ki raah mein
afsaanaa ban gaye,
deewaane jiski chaah mein
deewaane jiski chaah mein
afsaane thhey kisi din ke,
deewaane the kisi din ke
jaise ye bekhudi,
jaagi aankhon kaa khwaab hai
jab se ham tum,
bahaaron mein,
ho baithe gum,
nazaaron mein
jaise ye zindagi,
jaagi aankhon ka khwaab hai

chaahat ke naam kaa,
chaahat kaa jaam hai
mehki mehki nasheeli
bheegi bheegi shaam hai
chaahat ke naam kaa,
chaahat kaa jaam hai
mehki mehki nasheeli
bheegi bheegi shaam hai
bheegi bheegi shaam hai
dhalti zulfein ye neendon ki
khulti palkein ummeedon ki
jaise ye shaam ki
jaagi aankhon ka khwaab hai
jab se hum tum,
bahaaron mein
ho baithe gum,
nazaaron mein
jaise ye zindagi
jaagi aankhon ka khwaab hai

Jab se ham tum,
bahaaron mein
ho baithe gum,
nazaaron mein
jaise ye zindagi
jaagi aankhon ka khwaab hai
jab se ham tum,
bahaaron mein
ho baithe gum,
nazaaron mein
jaise ye zindagi
jaagi aankhon ka khwaab hai

hothon pe pyaar ki,
meethi si raagini
chehre pe aarzoo ki
dheemi dheemi roshani
hothon pe pyaar ki,
meethi si raagini
chehre pe aarzoo ki
dheemi dheemi roshani
dheemi dheemi roshani
meri dhadkan,
teri baaten
tere jalwe,
meri aankhen
jaise ye roshani,
jaagi aankhon ka khwaab hai
jab se ham tum,
bahaaron mein
ho baithe gum,
nazaaron mein
jaise ye zindagi
jaagi aankhon ka khwaab hai

jo naina mod ke
do naina jod de
jo itna shokh hai woh,
sharmaana bhi chhod de
jo naina mod ke
do naina jod de
jo itna shokh hai woh,
sharmaana bhi chhod de
woh sharmaana bhi chhod de
ye shokhi si,
nigaahon ki
ye chori si ,
adaaon ki
jaise ye dillagi
jaagi aankhon ka khwaab hai
jab se ham tum,
baharon mein
ho baithe gum,
nazaaron mein
jaise ye dillagi
jaagi aankho ka khwaab hai

I haven’t seen the movie but this song is a pretty popular song. At least I used to hear this song often enough when I was a young boy. I remember the Mukesh-Kamal Barot version being played more. Sweet song!

Sayeeda Khan was the leading female artist of the film.
Mumtaz born in July,1947 was not even 15 then.

I remember hearing this song, but only the Mukesh and Kamal Barot version. I don’t remember hearing the Rafi version before today, in fact, I didn’t even know such a version existed.
