What a wonderful duet from an almost unknown movie, Taxi Stand (1958). Another long lost friend that I had been searching for a very long time.
Having heard it decades ago in radio programs, this musical gem was lost from sight for many years. And just wading through the YouTube, the title of this post caught my attention. I clicked, and lo, here it is, this wonderful song I was missing for a very long time.
The song is sung by Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle. Lyrics are by Majrooh Sultanpuri, and the melodious fast paced composition is by none other than Chitragupt. The lead pair in this movie is Anita Guha and Chandrashekhar. The song must be picturized on this pair only. Online, only the audio clip is available.
Hearing to this song, and many others of its kind, it is a great wonder that Chitrgupt’s name is not mentioned in the same league as some of the others considered the top composers of the musical era of 50s thru 70s. I am discovering and rediscovering so many musical gems created by this composer. Always associated with B and C movies, Chitragupt’s music merits to stand with the best, in its own right. Always so melodious and catchy, his music always has a fresh air about it.
Enjoy this lilting and pleasant composition, sung with verve and gusto by Asha and Rafi.

Thanks for discussing this beautiful song which made me to rediscover one more lost gem from this movie – ‘Ye hawa he fiza ye sama’
