Bahaaron thhaam lo ab dil

on:Hindi movie scenario was so rich during the golden era that great music composers almost grew on trees. Some of them went on to become legends, but there were many great composers that failed to land sufficient number of assignments that their talents merited.
The name of G S Kohli will merit an honourable mention among the list of talented music composers that failed to get their rightful dues in the industry.
For much of his career, he was an assistant music director of O P Nayyar, and many great O P Nayyar compositions were arranged by G S Kohli.
On the few occasions where G S Kohli got an opportunity to work as an independent music director, he left his mark. Personally I regard his music in “Shikaari” (1963) as one of the major musical highlights of that musical year. The movie was a B grade movie, and unfortunately he did not help G S Kohli’s career as much as it should have.
Here is another example of G S Kohli’s talent. This song is from “Namaste Jee” (1965). It is a duet sung by Mukesh and Lata. Anjaan is the lyricist.
The video of this song is not available. One is not sure if it is a good thing or not, because this song was picturised on Mehmood and Ameeta, and Mehmood is not really all that good in lip syncing romantic songs like this.
Coming to the song itself, it is a superb song that richly deserves to be bette known and heard among music lovers.

Song-Bahaaron thhaam lo ab dil (Namaste jee) (1965) Singers-Mukesh, Lata, Lyrics-Anjaan, MD-G S Kohli
Lyrics
bahaaron thaam lo ab dil meraa mehboob aataa hai
ho sharaarat kar na naazuk dil sharam se doob jaataa hai
bahaaron thaam lo ab dil
qahar andaaz hain tere qayaamat hain teri baaten
ho ho ho ho
ho meri to jaan le lengi ye baaten ye mulaaqaaten
mulaaqaaten
sanam sharmaaye jab aise mazaa kuchh aur aataa hai
ho sharaarat kar na naazuk dil sharam se doob jaataa hai
bahaaron thaam lo ab dil
labon par ye hansi qaatil ghazab jaadoo nigaahon mein
ho ho ho ho
qasam tujhko mohabbat ki machal na aise raahon mein
aise raahon mein
machal jaataa hai dil jab ruubaroo dildaar aataa hai
ho sharaarat kar na naazuk dil sharam se doob jaataa hai
bahaaron thaam lo ab dil
