Sab shiqwe mitey di ke

Posted on: December 26, 2011

This article is written by Sudhir, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.

Khaiber (1954) is a film that is produced by Kamal Kapoor, who is also the hero in this film. Produced under the banner of Kapil Pictures, Bombay, the film is directed by Kedar Kapoor. The leading lady is Nigar Sultana, and the rest of the star cast includes Naaz, Tiwari, Niranjan Sharma, BM Vyas, Chaman Puri, Nand Kishore, Dev Raj, Rajan Kapoor, Dichhoo Kumar (Jr.), Roop Kumar, Baby Ratan, Chiman Lal, Charanjit Kumar and Indu Pal etc.

The lyrics for this film are written by Asad Bhopali. The music is composed by Hansraj Behl. In this film, he was assisted by another composer by the name Inder Goel. Now does this name sound familiar? Let’s see if the readers can identify where else and in which context has this name appeared earlier.

The song is a light duet sung by Mukesh and Madhubala Zaveri. It is a song of reconciliation between lovers, sounding almost similar to the phrase “kiss and make up”. Yes, the lines reflect this thought, as one hears ‘Sab Shikwey Mitey Dil Ke, Aapas Mein Galey Mil Ke’. Enjoy this light hearted duet, composed by Hansraj Behl.

Lyrics

sab shiqwey mitey dil ke
aapas mein galey mil ke
sab shiqwey mitey dil ke
sab shiqwey mitey
sab shiqwey mitey dil ke
aapas mein galey mil ke
hum dono musaafir hain
ik pyaar ki manzil ke
hum dono musaafir hain
ik pyaar ki manzil ke
sab shiqwey mitey dil ke
aapas mein galey mil ke
hum dono musaafir hain
ik pyaar ki manzil ke
hum dono musaafir hain
ik pyaar ki manzil ke

ik pal mein hansaa denaa
ik pal mein rulaa denaa
tum khel samajhte ho
deewaanaa banaa denaa
deewaanaa banaa denaa
deewaanaa banaa denaa

sab khel anokhey hain
sab khel anokhey
sab khel anokhey hain
armaan bharey dil ke

hum dono musaafir hain
ik pyaar ki manzil ke
hum dono musaafir hain
ik pyaar ki manzil ke

dil waalon ki duniya mein
ye reet puraani hai
khud roothh ke mann jaanaa
chaahat ki nishaani hai
chaahat ki nishaani hai
chaahat ki nishaani hai

baaten na banaa mujhse
baaten na banaa
baaten na banaa mujhse
ae chaand mere dil ke
hum dono musaafir hain
ik pyaar ki manzil ke
hum dono musaafir hain
ik pyaar ki manzil ke
sab shiqwey mitey dil ke
aapas mein galey mil ke
hum dono musaafir hain
ik pyaar ki manzil ke

Sorry, Sudhirji, I cannot recollect in what context the name Inder Goel is familiar. I checked and found that he’s composed for Chunariya (1948) but I’m sure that’s not the answer you’re looking for. 🙂
Fail ho gaye hum aapki pareeksha mein. 😦

Raja ji,

Yes, you are right, but a little off. On 21st December, Atul ji posted the song ‘Aankh Meri Lad Gayee Re Lad Gayee’ from film Chunariya (1948). Inder Goel, who has worked as assistant music director in ‘Khaiber’, has “uttered” (as Atul ji put it) two lines in the song ‘Aankh Meri Lad Gayee. . .’.

For almost three decades after the release of “Chunariya”, it remained a mystery who had sung these two lines. The the answer was finally provided by Hansraj Behl himself in a interview in the early eighties.

🙂
