Most of the actors were from the Bangla film industry and/or those conversant with Bangla. This movie, produced under the banner of Peacock Films was produced by Ashis Roy. It was directed by Kanak Mukherji and Mohinder Batra. The starcast had Tanuja, Ranjit Mullick, Danny Denzongpa, Utpal Dutt, Anil Dhawan, Tarun Kumar, Master Partha Mukherjee, Swaraj Chatterjee, Arun, Ranjan Mukherjee, Gupte etc.

Here is a duet from “Laal Kothi” (1978). It is sung by Amit Kumar and Asha Bhonsle. Naqsh Llayalpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sapan Jagmohan.

The song is picturised on Ranjit Mullick, Tanuja and Master Partha Mukherji.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

dhalaa din aise
doob gaya jaise
dhalaa din aise
doob gaya jaise
jaltaa sooraj
raat ke gehre andhere mein ae
din ye suhaanaa
kuchch jaanaa jaanaaa
din ye suhaanaa
kuchch jaanaa jaanaa
paar nadi ke kho gayaa
jaane kab aur kaise ae ae

dhalaa din aise
doob gaya jaise

rang ye naa thaa aa
phoolon mein to
badle kyaa… kyaa….
samay dekho
rang ye naa thaa
phoolon mein to
badle kyaa kyaa
samay dekho

rang ye na thaa
phoolon mein to
badle kyaa kyaa
samay dekho
paas aaye to kyun na
mil ke do dil gaayein
tum hi kaho jeewan mere
paas aaye to kyun na
milke do dil gaayein ae
tum hi kaho sajan mere
din hanse naa bhi hansein
saanjh se sajaayenge jeewan ko saathi

dhal din aise(aaahaaaaa)
doob gaya jaise(aahaaaaa)
jaltaa sooraj
raat ke gehre andhere mein
din ye suhaanaa
kuchch jaanaa jaanaaa

sochaa jaanaa aa
beetaa kal thaa
chait ka jaise ae
sookha patta
sochaa jaanaa
beetaa kal thaa
chait ka jaise
sookha patta
sochaa jaanaa
beeta kal thaa
chait ka jaise
sookhaa pattaa
jab bhi usse banke toofaan
baisaakh le udaa aa
jaane giraa kahaan jaake

jab bhi usse banke toofaan
baisaakh le udhe ae ae
jaane gire kahaan jaake
shaakhein saari jhoom utthin aur
Khil gaye goonche aise
Aakaash phailaaye baahein
din ye suhaanaa
kuchch jaanaa jaanaaa aa
din ye suhaanaa
kuchch jaanaa jaanaa
paar nadi ke kho gayaa
jaane kab aur kaise ae

dhalaa din aise (aahaaaaaa)
doob gaya jaise (aahaaaa)
jaltaa sooraj (lalaalaaahaaahaaaaaaaa)
raat ke gehre andhere mein (lalalalaalhaahaaaaaaaa)
dhalaa din aise (lalalaalaalaaaaaaaa)
doob gaya jaise (laaaaaa)
dhalaa din aise (laaaaaaaaa)
doob gaya jaise(aaaaaa)

Doordarshan used to telecast such rare movies in its Sunday Evening slot, in late 80`s.I remember watching this movie on the recommendation of Times of India`s synopsis about the movie as a Thriller. I faintly remember (I was in 8th standard or 6th, I don`t remember exactly. It was season of our Annual school examination. But being a movie crazy fan,I fought with my parents and watched entire the movie eventhough current failure snatched my chance to view and enjoy the full movie)that the story plot of the movie is about a happy small family and the entry of Blackmailer/criminal(Danny).The criminal gets transformed by innocence family`s child. It was a good movie. But this duet with Sapan Jagmohanji`s music remained with me, throughout all these years.

Thank you Atulji
For revoking all those childhood memories and for giving a chance to share my precious child hood memories.
Regards
Prakash

Nice song from this forgotten movie. I recently watched it on youtube.
There is another lovely song by Kishore Kumar with catchy tune & lyrics.
“Kya Kahun Kaun Hoon Main, Jaanu na Main Yaar” picturised on screen
on Danny. Would it be possible if it can be included in this movie songs?
Thanks!

I think Farar 1975 too had a similar theme. It starred Amitabh, Sharmila and Sanjeev and Anupama, a Marathi actress, who is now based in US.

It was a flop but the movie is eminently watchable. This is one of Amitabh’s early day movies as an angry young man. It had the famous song – Main Pyasa Tum Sawan, Main Dil Tum Meri Dhadkan.

The only difference here is that Amitabh is on the run trying to hide from the police and lands at the home of his ex-flame Sharmila Tagore who is now married to sanjeev kumar, a police inspector. In the process Amitabh develops an emotional bond with Sharmila’s son.
