Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)
jab bhi jee chaahe nayee duniyaa
basaa lete hain log
jab bhi jee chaahe nayee duniyaa
basaa lete hain log
ek chehre pe kayee chehre
lagaa lete hain log
ek chehre pe kayee chehre
lagaa lete hain log
jab bhi jee chaahe nayee duniyaa
basaa lete hain log
ek chehre pe kayee chehre
lagaa lete hain log
ek chehre pe kayee chehre
lagaa lete hain log
yaad rehtaa hai kisse
guzre zamaane ke chalan
yaad rehtaa hai kisse
sard padh jaati hai chaahat
haar jaati hai lagan
ab mohabbat bhi hai kyaa
ek tijaarat ke siwaa
hum hi naadaan thhe
jo odhaa
beeti yaadon kaa kaffan
varnaa jeene ke liye
sab kuchch
bhulaa lete hain log
varnaa jeene ke liye
sab kuchch
bhulaa lete hain log
ek chehre pe kayee chehre
lagaa lete hain log
jaane woh kyaa log thhe ..ee
jinnko waffa kaa paas(???) thaa
jaane woh kyaa log the
doosre ke
dil pe kyaa guzregi
ye ahsaas thaa
ab hai patthar ke sanam
jinnko ahsaas naa gham
woh zamaanaa
ab kahaan jo
ahle dil ko raas thaa
ab toh matlab ke liye
naam-e-waffa lete hain log
ab toh matlab ke liye
naam-e-waffa lete hain log
jab bhi jee chaahe nayee duniyaa
basaa lete hain log
ek chehre pe kayee chehre
lagaa lete hain log
ek chehre pe kayee chehre
lagaa lete hain log

Once again, Prakashchandra ji has sent my kind of song. I have thougtht so many times about looking this song up to see if it is posted yet. The problem was i did not it was from ‘Daag’ .
Regarding ?? :
jaane woh kya log thhe
jin ko wafaa ka ‘paas’ thha
The word is ‘paas’ which means ‘near’ or close.
‘ Jin ko wafaa ka paas thha ‘
Meaning : jin ko wafaa ki qadar hai yaa jo wafaa nibhaana jaante thhe / chaahte thhe .

@Prakash ji – thanks for this post ! Sahir’s magic is displayed in all songs of this movie and the verses ‘jaane woh kyaa log the, doosre ke dil pe kyaa guzregi, ye ahsaas thaa, ab hai patthar ke sanam, jinnko ahsaas naa gham’ , … we find it all around us .. !

Thanks Avinash ji .
When I get hurt by people, automatically the lines of this song, comes to my mind. You are absolutely right while saying “we find it all around us…”
Other lines of this song, which are my favourites are:
“Yaad rehtaa hai kisse guzre zamaane ka chalan”
“Hum hi naadaan the jo odhaa beeti yaadon ka kaffan”
Whenever I heard these lines,……………
Regards
Prakash

This Emo song is so typical of a YashRaj film. I do like the genre, an adult romance full of twists and turns that leave you literally ‘crying’ for more. 🙂 The two hanky film!
God bless the old man! I miss the days when we had men like Rajesh Khanna, Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh as heros and Rakhi, Rekha, Sharmila, Jaya as heroines and Rishi-Neetu as ‘kids’.

which is what he announced after Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) as well as Veer-Zaraa (2004). Haha! I seriously hope though this is the last movie. He is ruining his reputation with stupid movies. There are only a handful, like, Clint Eastwood, who keeps getting better with age.

Bluefireji,
I’ve always liked Clint Eastwood–until a few weeks ago.
The movie “Curve” (I forgot big name) ..it’s not directed by clint eastwood.

I was familiar with Obama name since he was in Illinois senate seat in 1996.
But didn’t pay much attention to him until he run for a seat of US senator.

Lata M. has any song in “Jab tak hai jaan ” ? If Yash chopra is really retiring than where is the question of anyone singing in his next ? Kindly explain, as i am confused.

Yashji wanted very much of “Lataji-AR-Gulzar’ team in “Jab tak…” but his son Aditya has said Lata voice will not match to K. Kaif.
But Lata said she can sing if they will asked her…
So I have no idea…will LM will be in or not? but since Aditya isthe producer of this film. It seems that he has made up his mind on LM.
May be partly reason for Yashaji retirement due to disagreement with his son…and he wanted to keep his word to have LM in his movies…so if this is not his movie…than he has kept his promise to LM..

Hmmm. More food for thought. So the poem recited by SRK is Gulzar’s. How did SRK -ARR agreed on the overseas music rights, for this film ?
Dont mind my curiousity.
