Ah Ganesh, the unsung genius composer, creator of incredible melodies and rhythms that almost never got picturized on the so called grade A stars of his time. His songs, buzzing with hummable and memorable tunes, played themselves out in B and C grade cinema halls, in productions that were considered of the same categories. Some of his songs escaped this banishment to the C grade world, and found a place on the radio waves, and in the mind and memories of listeners. I just came to know (thanks to information given by Khyati Bhatt) that today (9 september) is the birth anniversary of Leela Chitnis (9 september 1909 -14 july 2003). Leela Chitnis was born on 9 september 1909, and that makes her date of birth a perfect 09-09-09 whether you write it in the British style or the US style.

Today (8 september) is the birthday of S Mohinder, a music director of yesteryears who gave us some wonderful songs in the golden era of Hindi movie music. Born in 1925, S Mohinder composed music in movies like “Sehra” (1948), “Jeewan Saathi” (1949), “Shrimatiji”(1952), “Bahaadur” (1953), “Paapi” (1955), “Naata”(1955), “Shehzaada” (1955), “Kaarwaan” (1956), “Shirin Farhad” (1956), “Mehlon Ke Khwaab” (1960), “Picnic” (1966) etc. He is one of those music directors who were criminally underutilised by the Hindi movie music industry.
