Today (2 october) is the birthday of Asha Parekh. It is only natural that we should greet her on this occasion by discussing some nice songs picturised on her.
Here is a superb song which I was holding on for quite some time for a special occasion. And this is just the right occasion to discuss this song.
This song is from “Naya Raasta” (1970). This movie, which was a Pushpa Pictures production, was produced by I A Nadiadwala and directed by Khalid Akhtar. The movie had Asha Parekh, Jeetendra, sujeet Kumar, Lalita Pawar, Farida Jalal, D K sapru, Veena, Balraj Sahni, Kishan Mehta, Shefali, Roopesh Kumar, Savita, Brahm Bhardwaj, Lalita Kumari, Kamla Sondhi, M Ahmad, Shyam Verma, Jilaani, Hari Shukla, Anand Tiwari, J N Dubey, Munshi Munakka, Sikandar Azam, Jayshree T etc.
This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by N Datta.
The song is picturised on Asha Parekh and Jeetendra. The picurisation shows only one stanza and makes the listener feel dissatisfied and hungry for more. So one needs to listen to the full audio version where every second is worth listening to.

You won’t believe this, but just an hour back, while driving back home after grocery shopping, I was listening to Geeta Dutt’s songs and the first one in my playlist is “Tabdeer se bigdi huyi taqdeer banaale……(Baazi) and I thought the same as Geeta singing for Geeta!!!! I am not aware of any other famous “Jodi” of Actor/Singer with the same name.

Usha mangeshkar or Usha Uthup never sing for Usha Kiron.
Sulochana Kadam never sing for Sulochana (Latkar).
Shyama Hemady chittar never sing for Shyamaji.
Anuradha Paudwal never sing for Anuradha Patel (grand daughter of Ashok kumar)
Amit Kumar never sing for AMITabh Bachchan..

Amit Kumar sang “Pyare Tere Pyar Mein” from Nastik (1983) for Amitabh Bachchan. Also sang “asli kya hai naqli kya hai” from Mahaan (1983) with his father, picturized on double roles of Amitabh Bachchan. May be there are more songs too. These ones immediately came to mind.

-Lata has sung for Snehlata in many movies, if that counts. Also, there is an actress Lata Arora, and Lata may have sung for her as well during early 70s. I just need a solid proof, ran out of time yesterday..
-good to know u were able to download that music stuff. i have found some 5 discs garba collection of as well. will upload it at some point.
