Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Jhingaapur taakur taakur

Posted on: November 4, 2012

“Aasheerwaad” (1968) was a Film Enterprise Production. It was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherji. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Sumita Sanyal, Abhi Bhattacharya, Leela Gandhi, Sajjan, Veena, S. N. Banerjee, Bipin Gupta, Harindranath Chattopadhyaya, Padma Khanna etc in it.

This movie has Ashok Kumar essaying one of the most memorable roles of his career as Jogi Thakur.

This movie had eight songs in it. As many as seven of these songs have been discussed in the past.

Here is the eighth and final song from this movie.

This song, like a few other songs of this movie are tonguetwisters as the lyrics are funny and sung fast too fast to be easily decipherable.

This song is written by Harindranath Chattopadhyay Gulzar. Harindranath Chattopadhyay and Ashok Kumar are the singers. Music is composed by Vasant Desai.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.
PS-Now Sudhir jee has uploaded the video of this song and also provided corrections/additions to the lyrics.

With this song, “Aasheerwaad” (1968) joins the ranks of movies whose songs are fully covered in this blog.

Shir.Shah Saheb , Shri.Atul ji- thanks for this wonderful post. Just few days back when i browsed through the list of movies on our blog and note the film Aashirwaad i think something was missing. Then i remember the scene when Ashok Kumar return backs to the village for attending his daughter’s marriage and Harendra nath identifies him and follow him singing lines from this song (please correct me if i am wrong) i thought to have this on our blog. And today here it is. Thanks once again. A memorable film and Ashok Kumar’s – Jogi Thakur – whoever has seen this movie will never forget this … ‘jhingapur taakur-taakur
jhingapur taakur-taakur’ … i can not express how happy i am today to have this song discussed on our blog … Thanks !!!

It must have been quite an effort to get the lyrics of this song. Thanks so much for that, Nitin Shahji.

This is a really beautiful film – one that you can watch again and again. Ashok Kumar is just amazing in this film (isn’t he almost always?).
