This is one more duet by Mohammed Rafi and Geeta Dutt from the film ‘Chunariya’ (1948). Music Director is Hansraj Behl and lyricist is Mulkraj Bhakri. Four songs of this film are already posted in the blog and none of them are having video links. The songs of this film are specially poignant with these two solos by Lata and Rafi, viz. Dil e nashaad ko jeene ki hasrat ho gayee tumse and Sab kuchh lutaayaa hamne aakar teri gali mein. The song I am discussing also just has an audio link. But from the tone of the song I can guess that it is a ‘ beggar’s song ‘. The words are not really begging but the composition is such that it can not fit any other situation.

Sometimes we meet someone, and are so impressed by the personality and the interaction, that we remember that person lifelong. And sometimes fortune plays such games, that we meet someone we think is so wonderfully special, but then life never does bring the same person near us again. C RAMCHANDRA is generally considered a rebel amongst the composers of his times. He is the one, who, in the fifth decade of the 20th century itself brought full fledged western music variety in Hindi songs. At the same time he composed soft and extremely melodious songs based on various Ragaas also. He took Lata Mangeshkar to the pinnacle where she remained, later, on her own merit, for a long period. Very few composers have exhibited such variety in their music. It was a fact that many of his films were sold merely on the strength of his music.

This movie was produced by Tahir Hussain and directed by Mehul Kumar. the movie had Adil Amaan, Bhavna Bhatt, Amjad Khan, Raksha Trivedi, Dhaval, Ramesh Deo, Gayatri, Roopesh Kumar, Iftekar, Uma Dhawan, Jagdeep, Tahir Hussain, Ashoo, Madhup Sharma, Murad, Sujata, Madhu Chouhan, Rajni, Manohar Naidu, Akbar, Talukdar, Harisingh, Thakur, Shivaram, Kataria, Kashmiri, Dog Jugnu etc in it.
