“Bank Manager” (1959) was produced by S L Agrawal and directed by Rakhan for Movie Stars, Bombay. the movie had Kamini Kaushal, Shekhar, Minu Mumtaz, K N Singh, Radhakishan, Tuntun, Baalam, Jamal, Daraj, Prem, Rajan Kapoor, li Kapoor etc in it.

Four songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.

Here is the fifth song from the movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle, and chorus. It is picturised on Minu Mumtaz and other females who sing this song in the presence of K N Singh, Radhakishan etc. This is the second song of Anwar Farrukhabadi in the blog as a lyricist. The lyrics are superb to listen to.

Madan Mohan is the music director.

Is it a mujra song or a get together song ? I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this matter.

PS-The lyrics of this song (noted by someone with inadequate grasp of language)are available online which are blindly copied by other sites. That lyrics virtually murders the beautiful penmanship of Anwar Farrukhabadi. It is advised for music lovers to steer clear of that otherwise one may feel like hanging oneself from the nearest rope on going through that lyrics.

Song-Mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai (Bank Manager)(1959) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Anwar Farrukhabaadi, MD-Madan Mohan
Unknown female voice
Chorus

Lyrics

mera dilbar
haaye
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai
haaye
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai
mera dilbar
o ho
mera dilbar
hoye hoye
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai
haaye
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai

ghataayen uski zulfen choomti hain
bahaaren naachti hain jhoomti hain
kali khilti hai
sharmaate hain taare
wo hansta hai to hanste hain nazaare
sunahre baal jaise narm dhaaga aa aa
jawaani hai ke sone par suhaaga
haaye
jawaani hai ke sone par suhaaga

adaayen hain badi maasoom uski
sare baazar mein hai dhoom uski
jo wo nikle to baadal ud ke dekhen
har ek dilbar use mud mud ke dekhen
har ek dilbar use mud mud ke dekhen
aa aaa aa
ghazab hai muskuraane ka kareena aa
ke phoolon ko bhi aata hai paseena
haaye
mera dilbar
haaye haaye
mera dilbar
o ho
mera dilbar hazaron mein ek hai
haaye
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai

zamaane mein bahut maqbool hain vo
mohabbat ki sunahri bhool hain vo
zameen ka chaand hain aankhon ka taara
chaman ka phool mehfil ka nazaara
aa aa aa
wo mehshar hai to angdaayi hai bijli
suna hai uski shaidaayi hai bijli
haaye
mera dilbar
o ho
mera dilbar
haay haaye
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai
haaye mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai

har ek andaaz hai talwaar uska
haseenon ki ada hai pyaar uska
kabhi milta nahin zaalim akela
laga rahta hai dilwaalon ka mela
jo Shirin paaye to imaan de de ae ae
jo Laila dekh le to jaan de de
haaye
jo Laila dekh le to jaan de de

zara si baat ka afsaana kar de
jise chahe use deewana karde
sitamgar bhi use pehchaante hain
sanam bhi us ka kehna maente hain
sanam bhi us ka kehna maante hain

aa aa aa
adaaye husn ko bismil se poochho
wo kaisa hai ye mere dil se poochho
haaye
mera dilbar
oy hoy
mera dilbar
aa haa
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai
haaye mera dilbar hazaron mein ek hai

aa aaa aaa
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai
aa aa aa
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai
aa aaa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai
haaye mera dilbar
o dilbar
mera dilbar
oy oy
mera dilbar
hazaron mein ek hai
mera dilbar hazaron mein ek hai
aa aa aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa aa
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai
haaye
mera dilbar hazaaron mein ek hai

I think during mujra they sit on gaddis aur takiyas and are quite lascivious; which is not so here…

?? is mehshar – means qayamat, day of judgement

this song reminds other similar type of songs viz. mera mehboob hai bemisaal, mere mehboob mein kya nahin …
enjoyed this also, 🙂
thanks for the post !!!

Kya “iraada” hai Avinashbhai? “Bank Manager” ko follow kar rahe ho… 😉

I have to take him to Pradeep ji 🙂

well-known character actor Radhakishan (Mehra) was married to Nalini Jaywant.

As per Wikipedia, she was married to director Virendra Desai and later to actor Prabhu Dayal (Hum Dono,Duniya,Lajwanti,,,,,, fame).Prabhu Dayal also directed Amar Rahe Ye Pyar(1961)

Virendra Desai was a son of Chiman bhai Desai (director of “Radhika” Nalini Jaywant first film). Virendra was many many years senior to her and already married with children. But that resulted as he was kick out from his own home. So both start new life with nothing. And their marriage lasted 3 years. Radhakrishna Mehra was a producer, he made 5 films in 50’s with Prabhu Dayal (his friend) as director and Nalini as heroine. During that time she secretly married to (known as a comedian also a producer) Radhakrishn. When his last film “amar rahe pyar” flopped…the grief from his failing film he commits suicide by jumping off from the terrace. Also she fell in love and married to actor/director Prabhu Dayal while making same film so Radhakrishn had two reasons to take his own life.
After Prabhu Dayal passed away in 2001, she lived a lonely and reclusive life until her final breath.
