#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #

Today 13th October 2015 is the death anniversary of Kishore Kumar.
He was born in Khandwa on 4th August in 1929. Recently I got a chance to visit Khandwa as many as four times for my official work.
My first two visits to Khandwa were very short so I did not get to spend much time there. However in the third visit, I specially made it a point to visit Kishore Kumar’s Samadhi (the Kishore Kumar Samadhi sthal) at Khandwa and also went to see the place where he was born – ‘Gauri Kunj’ – The Ganguly House in Bombay Bazar locality at Khandwa. It is at walking distance from the Khandwa Railway Station.
When I visited his ancestral home and his ‘samadhi sthal’ may thoughts come to my mind and that would require a separate post and a different song to express the thoughts that came to my mind.
Today we remember Kishore Kumar – the actor-producer-director-music director-playback singer-lyricist-composer- and the only one of his kind – Kishore Kumar.
On this occasion I wish to present a song, and as we are all aware many of his songs are yet to make it to this blog. So, out of many such choices that I had, I selected this song because it is from 1971, the first year of the decade-1971-1980, and the oldest one among the songs that I was thinking of sharing today.
Kishore Kumar ruled the seventies and his voice was also used for many of the newcomers in the films produced during those years. If one takes a look at the annual ‘Binaca Geetmala’ toppers of 1971, one can find that as many as 19 songs of Kishore Kumar (including 08 solos and 11 duets) were there out of the total 32 nos of songs. The song that topped the ‘Binaca Geetmala’ that year was ‘zindagi ek safar hai suhaana’ from the Rajesh Khanna, Shammi Kapoor & Hema Malini starrer ‘Andaaz’.
Here is a song from the film ‘Saaz Aur Sanam-1971’. I have not heard much about this movie, and neither watched it, so I cannot say much about its ‘box-office’ performance and about the songs of this film. I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie and its songs.
When I had earlier noticed this song, going by its title and lyrics, its composer’s name – Chitragupt (and some of the words in the lyrics viz. ujaale, baahon mein aaja, fazaa, hawaa, mahka aanchal), I was anticipating it to be a song on the lines of the song-‘chanda ki kirnon se lipti hawaayen… aa ke mil ja’. And though it may not create the same magic, it’s a nice hummable song. I wonder if the above song came before this today’s song, but that was not the case as that song came one and half year later i.e. in 1973 (Film -Intezaar).
‘Saaz Aur Sanam-1971’ was a ‘Wadia Movietone’ presentation, directed by J.B.H.Wadia. Its star-cast include Rekha, Premendra, Suresh Chatwal, Renu, Sapru, Poornima, Bramhachari, Bhagwan, Asit Sen, Ratan Kumar, Kirti Kumar, Hercules, Panna Kapoor, Bismillah, Dayanand, Dalda and new discovery Rajni Bala and Arvind.
This movie has five songs penned by Kaifi Azmi and composed by Chitragupt. All these songs are solo songs. Asha Bhonsle sings one song while Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar have sung 2 songs each in this movie.
Actor Premendra is seen lip syncing in Kishore Kumar’s voice in this song and Rekha is also visible in the picturisation of this song.
Let us now enjoy the song – dil se nazar tak tere ujaale

Song-Dil se nazar tak tere ujaale (Saaz Aur Sanam)(1971) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Kaifi Azmi, MD-Chitragupta
Lyrics
Ae hey hey hey
O ho ho ho o
Dil se nazar tak tere ujaale
Baanhon mein aaja
ya Mujhko bulaa le
Dil se nazar tak tere ujaale
Baanhon mein aaja
ya mujhko bulaa le
Dil se nazar tak
Hawaa mein mehka aanchal
Lehra bhi de
Fazaa mein tan ki khushboo
Bikhraa bhi de ae
Na jaane kab se pyaasa
Pyaasa hai dil
Labon se apne surkhi chhalka bhi de ae
Dooben abhi khushi mein saare gham
Haaye
Dil se nazar tak tere ujaale
Baanhon mein aaja
ya mujhko bulaa le
Dil se nazar tak
Zamaana chori chori dekha kare
Khushi se hamko duniya ruswaa kare ae
Deewaane kis ki kis ki dekhe nazar
Jawaani kis ki kis ki parwaah kare ae
Koi khataa kabhi to kar len ham
Haaye dil se nazar tak tere ujaale
Baanhon mein aaja
ya mujhko bulaa le
Dil se nazar tak
Gulon ne hansna tujhse seekha nahin
Kali ko kam kam khilnaa aaya nahin een
Nigaahen tujh par sabki padti rahin
Kisi ne aise tujhko dekha nahin
Teri adaa
Adaa pe nikle dam
Haaye dil se nazar tak tere ujaale
Baahon mein aaja
ya mujhko bulaa le
Dil se nazar tak tere ujaale
Baanhon mein aaja
ya mujhko bulaa le
Dil se nazar tak

Devnagri Script Lyrics:
—————————————-
