“Pooja Ke Phool”(1964) was a remake of Tamil movie “Kumudam”(1962) which was simultaneously made into Telugu as “Manchi Manasulu” as well. On the insistence of AV Meiyyapan, the owner of AVM Productions, the producer of thes movies, tunes of the songs of the Tamil version were reused in Hindi songs as well.

Leading ladies (and even leading lads, for that matter) tend to feel betrayed/ victimised in love in Hindi movies. They are typically seen complaining of bewafaai at the hands of their beloved. They would patiently wait for the beloved while the beloved himself/herself mayor may not be thinking along the same lines. They typically sing songs of melancholy, or rather Pathos (as our beeloved Mr Bharat Upadhyay would like me to describe such songs. 🙂

A few days back, I had mentioned in one of my articles in the Blog that I regard 1940s as the transitional phase for Hindi film music which paved the way for the arrival of the golden period of Hindi film music in 1950s and 1960s. The music director who triggered the ‘renaissance’ period of the 1940s in Hindi film music was Master Ghulam Haider. His song compositions in ‘Khazaanchi’ (1941) revolutionised Hindi film music. One of the popular songs from the film Saawan ke nazaare hain (Khazaanchi) was a trend setter not only for Hindi film music but also for the picturisation of the song.
