in this movie Manik Dutt plays the role of Rajni’s father

woh Manik dutt/Manek Dutt nahin hai, (ek site manik dutt ke naam pe iss gaane ko jo lip sync kiya hai,uss aadmi ka photo display kiyaa hai…most probably it is a mistake)
Madam Peevesie`s Mom ji is right, Manik dutt can be identified in the below video link at 6:00, with white beard),
I remember him in Basu chatterjee`s apne paraye(where he plays the grey character of Manohar lal ->gaaon ke ghar ka naukar:who creates differences between Amol/shabana and Utpal dutt

Dear Prakash ji,
I checked with Shaily Shailendra’s sister, Amla Majumdar. This song is not lip synced by Shaily Shailendra.
Shaily plays the role of the groom’s friend.
About the ‘sehra’ referred to in the credits; ‘sehra’ is a traditional poem of congratulations and blessings, which is sung by one of the groom’s relatives or friends, at the time of the arrival of the ‘baraat’ (marriage party) at the bride’s place, before the groom gets down from the horse. The poem contains many blessings from all relatives, from forefathers, it describes the groom’s qualities etc.
This tradition slowly seems to be going out of preference, as I am seeing lesser number of weddings which have this recital as part of the events.
In the film, Shaily is the friend who reads out this ‘sehra’ at the time of the wedding. And the ‘sehra’ poem is also actually written by Shaily himself. Amla ji has the original sheet of paper on which this ‘sehra’ was written by Shaily.

Thanks Peevesie’s Mom for the post and the song. I too have not watched this movie and do not remember when I heard this song last.
As you rightly said it’s always a special song when ‘Rafi-Pancham’ gets together.
Like this composition very much and it grows upon as we listen it again and again.

Thanks, Peevisie’s Mom. I’ve yet to see this film – have heard this song but never seen the picturisation.
Although it’s only a few lines, the slow version comes across to me as really powerful. There’s very little music, so the voice takes centrestage. Really good.
