Blog Day : |

Today is 19 july 2020. It was on this day in 2008 that this blog had started.
I had observed that the starting date was perhaps pre ordained. That day in 2008 was the first day of the month of Shraawan (or saawan), which is so very appropriate for a HFM blog, seeing that a big chunk of FM is inspired by saawan related songs, viz “rain songs”, “saawan ke jhoole” songs, and many other genres of songs.
I recently made another discovery. 19 july 2008 (and also today viz 19 july 2020) happen to be the 200th day of the year ! So, the belief that some higher forces , (rather than us mortals) are driving the affairs of this blog gets validated yet again.
People may have noticed that as many as four posts appeared today before 6 AM IST, and then there was no more activity. As it happened, I was going to get busy after 6 AM today so I made sure that today, the blog birthday should have a few posts. all regulars who had sent their articles on the occasion were scheduled to appear in the morning. I too intended to post at least one article, but that was not possible till evening.
Now that I am in a position to come to the keyboard again, let me try and post at least one of my writeups today.
Sudhir Jee made an observation that four songs appeared on this day ten years ago. On first three posts on that day, there was no mention of the day being the blog birthday. it was the fourth and final post of that day that mentioned this fact. 🙂
Today, every post is about blog birthday. so we have come a long way from that day.
We are not just adding posts, we are only gathering valuable database about HFM, and invaluable tidbits, often without realising it. Some of the information shared in these pages are not available elsewhere. Not just ordinary music lovers, but even relatives of HFM personalities are visitors of this blog. For instance, children of several music directors, lyricists and actors are visitors of this blog. Even some HFM personalities have visited and left comments in the blog. There visits , comments etc have been a source of great inspirations to us.
I must also stress that the regulars of this blog, including the contributors are all very special people in their own ways. We have among our regulars some have been related to HFM in some way or the other. Then there are some, whose ancestors have been great figures in some field or the other. We even have persons whose ancestors have been founding fathers of cities ! We have published authors and columnists among us. we have organisers of HFM events, and also people who have appeared on Radio/ TV shows, are among our contributors. So, we have a galaxy of distinguished contributors among us, who create quality content for the blog which enriches not just this blog but also HFM related knowledge base.
The fact that this blog has helped bring a galaxy of stars together is something that often escapes our attention. on this occasion, I want to acknowledge, appreciate and thank this galaxy of distinguished contributors, visitors and regulars. Without their contribution and encouragement, we would not have achieved the things that we have achieved over the 12 years that this blog has been in existence.
I feel that the blog is destined to achieved many more things in the years to come.
On this occasion, I present a song discussing this “anjuman sitaaron ki”. This song is sung by Suman Kalyanpur and chorus. Yogesh is the lyricist. Music is composed by Robin Bannerjee. the movie is “Rocket Tarzan”(1963). This obscure B grade movie was directed by B J Patel for Peoples Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Shanti Lal, Rajan Kapoor, Babu Raje, Bhopali, Polsan, Shakila Bano etc in it.
The movie had six obscure but wondeful songs in it. Two songs have been covered in the past. This is the third song, a super song, and quite an appropriate song for the occasion.
Once again, I thank one and all on the occasion of the birthday of the blog. Let us hoope and wish that this musical bandwagon will keep rolling on and on for many more years.
Song-Anjuman sitaaron ki (Rocket Tarzan)(1963) Singer-Suman Kalyanpur, Lyrics-Yogesh, MD-Robin Bannerjee

anjuman sitaaron ki
ye mehfil bahaaron ki
anjuman sitaaron ki
ye mehfil bahaaron ki
anjuman sitaaron ki
ye mehfil bahaaron ki
anjuman sitaaron ki
ye mehfil bahaaron ki
usi ke liye hai jo itna samajh le
ye zindagi zindaadili ka naam hai ae ae
anjuman sitaaron ki
ye mehfil bahaaron ki
ye uska jahaaaan hai
jo khud ek tohfa hai
ghamon se jo takraate hain
wahi manzilen paate hain
ye baaten ?? hain
anjuman sitaaron ki
ye mehfil bahaaron ki
anjuman sitaaron ki
ye mehfil bahaaron ki
usi ke liye hai jo itna samajh le
ye zindagi zindaadili ka naam hai ae ae
anjuman sitaaron ki
ye mehfil bahaaron ki
ye saara zamaanaa

bana lo jahaan ko apna
ye hai zindagi ka sapna
ye mera payaam (?) hai

anjuman sitaaron ki
ye mehfil bahaaron ki

Hello Atul-ji,
Congrats on 12th Anniversary of the Blog. You have indeed done an awesome job of being pied-piper to multitudes of Hindi Film song lovers. The 60-80s songs-era were awesome; for anyone in India leading a life of drudgery, but often revived to ‘moments of bliss’ by one of the songs of those Times.
The site is really well done and cross-indexed in many different ways for easy search of anyone’s favorites. Word-Press perhaps provided a good base for such a Web-Site. You have mastered all its features!
My Hi to Bhole … and who is Chote? … and btw: a Q .. what could be the Total “number” of songs possible (i.e. of HFM songs from the beginning to-date)? … Just a guess-estimate will do.
Thanks & Cheers,
KS

Nice song and my favourite. I remember this used to be aired regularly in radio days.
