Sahir Ludhianvi & His Music Directors-2 – (one movie collaboration only)
——————————————————————————————-

Welcome all to today’s post. In this series we will have a song from ‘Sahir & his music directors’ for ‘one movie association’ only. We have discussed this ‘one movie collaboration’ in the first article of this series here.

We are taking a ‘pause’ here instead of moving to ‘two movie collaboration’ movies of Sahir & his music directors.

Thus, I will say this article as a ‘pause post’ here in this series.

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Bhaai Ho To Aisa-1972’. So far, only one song from this movie has been posted on the blog and it was (the only popular or known song) ‘bol meri gudiya gudde ke sang jaayegi’.
This first song from this movie was posted on 24.01.2009. So, in the next couple of months this would be celebrating its twelve years on the blog. With this song being discussed today, that song would now have company. 😊

The other reason for covering a song from this movie is that I do not remember to have listened to the songs of this movie as frequently as most other songs written by Sahir Ludhianvi that I have listened to frequently and.

I have not watched this movie. But I remember to have heard the song ‘bol meri gudiya gudde ke sang jaayegi’ on radio and loud speakers in my childhood days.

‘Bhai Ho To Aisa-1972’ was directed by Manmohan Desai for ‘A.K. Movies, Bombay’. It was produced by A.K. Nadiadwala. It had Jeetendra, Hema Malini, Shatrughan Sinha, Bipin Gupta, Tiwari, Bela Bose, Viju Khote, Praveen Paul, Jankidas and Jagdeep with Indrani Mukherjee, Jayshree T, Jeevan, Ranjeet, Bobby, Sapru.

Story and screenplay of this movie was written by K.P. Pathak and dialogues were written by Prayag Raj. Kamlakar was the editor of this movie.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 11.05.1972.

This movie had five songs written by Sahir Ludhianvi and composed by Sonik-Omi.

Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar were the singers for the songs in this movie.

S.No. Song Title Singer/s Posted On
01 Ho…chor…hamne phansaaya Lata Mangeshkar
02 Bol meri gudiya gudde ke sang jaayegi Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar 24.01.2009
03 Aa jaa meri jawaani ko mastaani ko Lata Mangeshkar Being discussed today
04 Ae phooljhadi ae gulchhadi Mohd Rafi
05 Sun le naagraja sun le mere devta Asha Bhonsle

Today’s song is sung by Lata Mangeshkar and on screen it is performed by Jayshree T. If one looks at the video without listening the full song somebody could well mistake it for a song sung by Asha Bhonsle.

But this is a different song where we see Jayshree T performing in front of two ‘daakus’ (Jeetendra and Jagdeep) who have kidnapped Mama (Jeevan with his daughter) and all this is done to ensure that Mama (Jeevan) believes that there is a ‘hamshakal’ of Bharat (Jeetendra) and he can tell his big brother Ram Singh (Shatrughan Sinha) about this, who is planning to kill Bharat, to get all the estate of his father on his name. However, the movie ends with everything going well as planned by the ‘director’ for the ‘audience’ 😊

I am reproducing below a brief about this movie as given on IMDB which can be helpful to understand the overall ‘plot’ 😊

“Thakur is a rich and wealthy man. He has two sons, the elder is Ram, who is married but frequents a prostitute Munnibai. The second son is Bharat, who is unmarried, and is good, virtuous, and devoted to his family, and expected to marry Roopa. While disciplining his elder son, Thakur has a heart-attack and passes away, leaving the administration of the estate to his younger son and daughter-in-law, the wife of Ram, Gayatri. This does not auger well with Ram and Mamaji, and they attempt to force Bharat to sign the estate over to them. When they fail, they conspire to kill him, and take over the estate from Gayatri. Bharat overhears this, and goes along with Ram’s plan to kill him. He then returns as Daaku Mangal Singh, his look-alike, in order to set things right. Things seem to be going well, until Bharat finds himself in a tight corner when he is accused of killing himself.”

Let us now listen to today’s song … and add one more song to the tally of songs of ‘Bhai Ho To Aisa-1972’ …

o sainyya aaja
ke tu u u diljaani hai
re aaja aa

har koyi dorey daale
aur badhh kar pyaar uchhaaley

o sainyya aaja
ke tu u u diljaani hai
re aaja aa

bairan bijlee kadke
tan kaanpe ae
aur dil dhadke
saans ghute ae
dard uthhe
nas nas mein aag bhhadke
haay re bairan bijlee kadke
tan kaanpe
aur dil dhadke
saans ghute
dard uthhe
nas nas mein aag bhhadke
ab bhi der kari to
bairi kar denge manmaani
ke maine sab ki
nazar pehchaani hai
o sainyya aaja
ke tu u u diljaani hai
re aaja aa
meri jawaani ko
mastaani ko o
aaja aa
meri jawaani ko
mastaani ko o
roop ke lobhi ghoor rahe hain
bhar ke munh mein paani
ke maine sab ki
nazar pehchaani hai
o sainyya aaja
ke tu u u diljaani hai
re aaja aa

I have seen the movie partially, muting the sound effect for dialogues,
I watched the song chor chor hamne fansaayaa and other 2 dance songs for the sake of Hema Malini………
This movie has got scenes picturised at real Palace locations somewhere near Baroda……..I guess……….
Shatrughan Sinha plays grey character and snakes got important role in this movie………

We know Sahir for his shayri/gazale more on the subject of inequality /social issues etc.
This song is quite different and seems to be ‘demand of the story line’!
Sonik-Omi tune is more like LP…Laxmi-Pyare.
मै पल दाे पलका शायर हूँ…
