# Superstar Child Artist – Junior Mehmood # 13
——————————————————–

Today 15th November’2022 is the ‘sixty-sixth’ birthday of actor Junior Mehmood.

On this occasion we wish him a very happy and a healthy, wealthy, entertaining and enjoying life ahead.

Junior Mehmood was born as Naeem Sayyad on 15th November’1956 to a ‘middle class family living in Mumbai.
His father was an Engine Driver in railways and the family used to live in the railway quarters at ‘Antop Hill’ Mumbai (as mentioned in the biography of Jr Mehmood available on YT).
Including Naeem they were six siblings – four brothers and two sisters.

Jr. Mehmood started his acting career at the age of eight. Unfortunately, the very first film which he got a chance to work in ‘Kitna Nazook Hai Dil’ (as mentioned by Junior Mehmood himself in an interview available on YT and other sources too) never got released and was shelved.

His first released film was ‘Naunihaal-1967’.

He went on to act in many movies as a child artist from ‘1967’ onwards and was very much popular among people like me who were born and growing during those years of late sixties and early seventies. He was the most loved child artist during those years of end sixties and early seventies or till mid-seventies.

His acting career continued even as an adult actor. However, he didn’t get the same success and adulation in movies as an adult actor what he received as a ‘child artist’.

As a child artist Junior Mehmood achieved a ‘Superstar’ like status then. He got to perform on many songs or rather many songs were picturised on him.

Under this special series we have been enjoying such songs where Junior Mehmood has performed on screen.

So far twelve songs have been presented under this series.

Today we listen to a song from the ‘1971 movie – Khoj’. There will be few more songs coming. Our dear Prakash ji has brought to my notice few songs which he had come across during his daily browsing. I will be presenting the same soon too.

Today I am presenting a song which I come across around four-five years back but had forgotten later.

‘Khoj-1971’ was directed by Jugal Kishore for his home productions ‘Jugal Productions, Bombay’.
It had Farida Jalal, Deepak Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha, Jayshree T., Bramhachari, M. Rajan, K.N. Singh, Wasti, Kumud Tripathi, Leela Mishra, Badri Prasad, Junior Mehmood, Heera Lal, Hercules, Rajan Kapoor, H. Prakash, Kishan, Bhupendra Kumar, and others.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 26.10.1971.

This movie has six songs in it. Lyrics for the songs in this movie were written by Mahendra Dehlavi – two songs and Asad Bhopali – four songs.

Music for this movie was composed by Usha Khanna.

So far, three songs from this movie have been posted on the blog and all of them were posted in the year ‘2009’. So, this movie missed being part of its BTYC three years ago.

Today’s song is the fourth song from this movie which is sung by Suman Kalyanpur and Usha Khanna. On screen it is lip synced by Junior Mehmood and Jayshree T (respectively for the voices I guess).

This song is a nice song sung by grateful children for their father (played by actor Wasti I think). Also seen in the picturisation of this song are Heera Lal and others (who, I guess, have kidnapped the father of the children).

This song has two versions – one happy (short version) and one long slow version.
(HFGK mentions this as one song. Also, the lyrics for the happy or fast version are same as the second stanza in the slow version).

Let us now listen to the song …

Happy birthday to Junior Mehmood!!!

Song-Jiske pyaar ke aage is duniya ka sar jhuk jaata hai (Khoj)(1971) Singers-Suman Kalyanpur, Usha Khanna, Lyrics-Mahendra Dehalvi, MD-Usha Khanna

Lyrics

jiske pyaar ke aage
is duniya ka sar jhuk jaata hai ae
arey o o o
jiske pyaar ke aage
is duniya ka sar jhuk jaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai

dhool tere charnon ki baabul
jo maathhe pe lagaaye
arey o o o
jo maathhe pe lagaaye
unka ek janam kya
sau sau janam safal ho jaaye
arey o o o
janam safal ho jaaye
jiski sewaa karnewaalaa
bhav-saagar tar jaata hai
jiski sewaa karnewaalaa
bhav-saagar tar jaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai

jiske pyaar ke aage
is duniya ka sar jhuk jaata hai ae
arey o o o
jiske pyaar ke aage
is duniya ka sar jhuk jaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai

waqt ki tapti dhoop mein jo
har pag par thhokar khaaye
arey o o o
pag par thhokar khaaye
phir bhi aankhon ke taaron ko
dil ka khoon pilaaye
arey o o o
dil ka khoon pilaaye
jisse badhh ke koyi sakhi hai
aur na koyi daataa hai ae
jisse badhh ke koyi sakhi hai
aur na koyi daataa hai ae
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai

dhool tere charnon ki baabul
jo maathhe pe lagaaye
arey o o o

janam safal ho jaaye
jiski sewaa karnewaalaa
bhav-saagar tar jaata hai
jiski sewaa karnewaalaa
bhav-saagar tar jaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai

khaana peenaa chhod ke jo tu
apni jaan ganwaaye
arey o o o
apni jaan ganwaaye
ye andher tere bachchon se
kaise dekha jaaye
arey o o o
kaise dekha jaaye
dil ke tukdon ki khaatir jo
mar-mar ke jee paataa hai
dil ke tukdon ki khaatir jo
mar-mar ke jee paataa hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai
jiske pyaar ke aage
is duniya ka sar jhuk jaata hai ae
arey o
jiske pyaar ke aage
is duniya ka sar jhuk jaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai
uska naam pitaa hai jag mein
wo baabul kehlaata hai
