#the Decade of Fifties –1951 – 1960 #

In this post we cover a song sung by Hemant Kumar from the movie ‘Kitnaa Badal Gayaa Insaan-1957’.

Two songs from this movie have been posted on the blog in the past.

As mentioned by Shri Atul ji in his post while launching this movie on the blog, the title of this movie seems to be inspired from the iconic song ‘dekh tere sansaar ki haalat’ from ‘Naastik-1954’. And the same leading pair of ‘Naastik-1954’ Nalini Jaywant and Ajit was cast in this movie ‘Kitnaa Badal Gayaa Insaan’ again. Both the movies were directed by I.S. Johar.

‘Kitnaa Badal Gayaa Insaan-1957’ was a ‘costume drama movie’ directed by I.S. Johar for ‘Modern Theatre Ltd, Madras’.

It had Nalini Jaywant, Ajit, I.S. Johar, Kamaljeet, Thakkar, Anil Dutt, Harbanslal, Khopkar, Gopal, Lakshami Narayan, Reeta, Rajamani, Saroja, P. Bala, Shanti, G. Bala, Udaylakshami and others.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 17.09.1957.

‘Kitnaa Badal Gayaa Insaan-1957’ has eleven songs written by S.H. Bihari and the music for this movie was composed by Hemant Kumar.

Hemant Kumar, Ghulam Mohammad, Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar, Geeta Dutt, Mohd Rafi, Shamshad Begam, and Bande Hasan are the singers whose voices appear in the songs of this movie.

Going by the list of songs of this movie I don’t think I am familiar with any of the songs of this movie. As mentioned above two songs from this movie have been posted earlier on the blog.

Today’s song is sung by Hemant Kumar and luckily video of this song is also available where we can see Ajit racing a ‘tonga’ (not exactly a traditional tong, as the carriage is of different type like used in a ‘jugaad’). We can also see ‘boatmen’ ferrying the boat (must be in Kerala) and then suddenly we are taken back into the lakes of ‘Kashmir’ (I guess). 🙂

So, let us now enjoy this song where this guy is out to ‘sell his heart’ not for money but only to ‘someone who is ‘dilwaala’ and having a ‘flower like face’:) (translation?)

“saudaa hai kitnaa pyaaraa
samjho mera ishaara
aisi ghadi suhaani
aati nahin dobaaraa”

Song-Hai chaar din ki duniya hain chaar din ke mele (Kitna Badal Gaya Insaan)(1957) Singer-Hemant Kumar, Lyrics-S H Bihari, MD-Hemant Kumar

Lyrics

hai chaar din ki duniya
hain chaar din ke mele ae
dil bechne chale hain
dilwaalaa koyi le le
hai chaar din ki duniya
hain chaar din ke mele ae
dil bechne chale hain
dilwaalaa koyi le le ae

saathi ho koyi aisaa
chehra ho phool jaisaa
is dil se dil badal le ae
maange naa koi paisaa
saathi ho koyi aisaa
chehra ho phool jaisaa
is dil se dil badal le ae
maange naa koi paisaa
samjhe
armaan se hamaare
jee bhar ke roz khele
dil bechne chale hain
dilwaalaa koyi le le
hai chaar din ki duniya
hain chaar din ke mele
dil bechne chale hain
dilwaalaa koyi le le ae

saudaa hai kitnaa pyaaraa
samjho mera ishaara
aisi ghadi suhaani
aati nahin dobaaraa
saudaa hai kitnaa pyaaraa
samjho mera ishaara
aisi ghadi suhaani
aati nahin dobaaraa
samjhe
aa apne saath ho le
ham bhi to hain akele
dil bechne chale hain
dilwaalaa koyi le le

hai chaar din ki duniya
hain chaar din ke mele ae
dil bechne chale hain
dilwaalaa koyi le le ae
hai chaar din ki duniya
hain chaar din ke mele
dil bechne chale hain
dilwaalaa koyi le le ae
