Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 12
This song is my 12th in this series of Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle.
“Mujhpe Bhi Toh Daalo Ek Nazar” sung by Asha Bhosle, penned by Varma Malik and composed by Sonik Omi.
“Maan Gaye Ustaad” (1981) was directed by Shibu Mitra for ‘Kapoor Films International, Bombay’. It was produced by S.K. Kapoor.
It starred Ashok Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Ajit, Bindu, Amjad Khan, Pran, Chandrashekhar, Rajendra Nath, Sonia Sahni, Devyani Thakkar, Uttam Sodhi, Johny, Leena Das, Jazbel, Peeloo Wadia, Mohan Choti, Rajan Haksar, Rajan Kapoor, Shetty, Murad, Ghulam Hussain, Moolchand, Gurucharan, Bhola and others. This movie also had child artistes Ravi Valecha and Baby Suparna.
Synopsis of the movie:
Maan Gaye Ustaad is a dramatic action film centered around themes of justice, revenge, and moral conflict. The story follows Inspector Anand (Shashi Kapoor), an honest and upright police officer dedicated to eradicating crime. Anand’s sense of duty often puts him at odds with powerful criminals, particularly a notorious smuggler and gangster (played by Ranjeet), who wields considerable influence.
Anand’s life takes a tragic turn when his family becomes a target of the criminal underworld. As the law fails to protect his loved ones and deliver justice, Anand is pushed to the brink. The film explores his transformation from a law-abiding officer to a man who begins to challenge the very system he once upheld, in pursuit of vengeance.
Hema Malini plays a pivotal role as Anand’s love interest, bringing emotional depth and moral support to the story. The film also features Shakti Kapoor in a villainous role and Nirupa Roy as Anand’s mother, embodying the archetype of the suffering but morally strong Indian mother.
With its mix of action, emotional drama, and moral dilemmas, Maan Gaye Ustaad reflects the cinematic style of the early 1980s, where the hero often fought not just criminals, but also a corrupt system.
Four songs out of seven have already been posted on the blog, one by Avinash Ji and three by Peevesie’s Mom. The story of the movie is covered in this song post.
“Mujhpe Bhi To Dalo Ek Nazar” is characterized by its romantic melody and evocative lyrics, expressing a yearning for attention and affection before parting ways. Asha Bhosle’s emotive rendition, combined with Sonik-Omi’s composition, creates a poignant atmosphere that resonates with listeners.
Interestingly, this song was earlier recorded and released on the vinyl record of the album “Apna Khoon 1978”.
Looks like it wasn’t used until a situation occurred in the movie “Maan Gaye Ustaad” in 1981 – full 3 years later.
Apna Khoon (1978) and Maan Gaye Ustaad (1981), both starred Shashi Kapoor and Hema Malini in lead roles. Plus even the lyricist and composer were the same.
Editor’s note:- With this song, excluded from the original movie but subsequently used in another movie of the same production house, “Apna Khoon”(1978) makes its debut in the blog.

Song-Mujh pe bhee to daalo ek nazar jaane se pahle (Apna Khoon)(1978)/(Maan Gaye Ustaad)(1981) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Verma Malik, MD-Sonik Omi
Lyrics:
hmm
mujh pe bhee to daalo ek nazar
jaane se pahle
mujh pe bhee to daalo ek nazar
jaane se pahle
kuchh to dil pe hone do asar
jaane se pahle
ye dil
tadpega aa aa
tarsega aa aa
bin tere ae
dilbar
mujh pe bhee to daalo ek nazar
jaane se pahle
ay meri nazar ke shahenshah
ae meri nazar ke shahensha
jawani jalwon ka salam le
lut na jaaye dil ki aarzoo
yoon na mujhse intkaam le
ban ke dekh mera humsafar
ban ke dekh mera humsafar
jaane se pahle
mujh pe bhee to daalo ek nazar
jaane se pahle
jab se maine tujhko paa liya aa
jab se maine tujhko paa liya
jaag uthha dil mein josh hai ae ae
husn teree raah mein pada
aur tu phir bhee khaamosh hai
ab to mera kuchh khayaal kar
ab to mera kuchh khayaal kar
ho
jaane se pahle
kuchh to dil pe hone do asar
jaane se pahle
ye dil
tadpega aa
tarsega aa
bin tere ae ae
dilbar
mujh pe bheei to daalo ek nazar
jaane se pahle
haay re
jaane se pahle
haay re
jaane se pahle
