“Badnaam Farishte”(1971) was produced by N S Kabir and directed by Qamar Naqvi for Films and Films International, Bombay.

This movie had Sona (debutant lead acress ) and 12 debutant male actors namely Amrit Patel, Arvind Rathod, Atam Prakash, Bharat Kapoor, Chetan, Gurnam, Jayesh, Kunal, Mahendra, Rajoo, Yash Tandon and Rajnish ( the name of Rajnish is mentioned in larger font size in one screen unlike other lead actors who share screen with others).

They were supported by actors (whose name is shown in smaller font ) such as Ram Mohan, Shivraj, B N Sharma, Rajan Chawla,Nazir Kashmiri, Nisha, Malik, Akram, Robinson, Kishore, Chawan, Shyam, N N Shukla, Nandini Desai, Kabir Kumar and (in larger font) Pinchoo Kapoor.

Anwar Hussain had made guest appearance whereas Dharmendra had given opening commentary. Above all, there were the hit pair of superstar Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore who were roped in to play special roles of lawyers who defend the debutant actors in court.

“Badnaam Farishte”(1971) had five songs in it. Four songs have been covered in the past.

While covering the previous song of the movie, Satyajit Rajurkar, the author of that post gave a summary of the story which is reproduced here:

“Badnaam Farishtey” (1971) is a Hindi-language court drama film that centers on a group of unemployed and struggling young people.

The film’s plot revolves around a group of 12 young men and one woman who, after graduating from college with degrees and diplomas, find themselves unable to find work. They arrive in Mumbai with high hopes but are met with indifference from society. Desperate to earn money, they fall into the trap of a local gangster. They are forced to participate in various illegal activities to make a living.

However, not being hardened criminals, the group soon realizes the error of their ways. They decide to abandon their criminal lives and try to find honest work, embracing the “dignity of labor.” They take on various odd jobs, like selling vegetables.

The gangster, determined to maintain his control, exposes their past to the police, leading to their arrest. The film’s climax is a courtroom drama where the young people are put on trial. Their case is taken up by two lawyers, who are played by Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore in extended guest appearances. The lawyers argue on behalf of the young, unemployed people, highlighting the societal pressures and lack of opportunities that led them to crime.

The film’s message is that academic education alone is not enough and that young people should also consider technical or vocational fields and respect the “dignity of labor.” It preaches against the lure of easy money and a life of luxury through shortcuts. The judge, after a lengthy deliberation, delivers a verdict that is favorable to the young people.

Here are the details of the four songs that have been covered so far:-

19799 Na saathhee hai na manzil ka pata hai (Badnaam Farishtey) 9 January 2026 Asha Bhonsle Picturised on Sona

It was mentioned about the first song of the movie that this song showcases eight actors lipsyncing in a single voice (of Rafi). But when the song was covered in the blog, it turned out that the song is lip synced not by 8 actors, but by 12 actors ! And that, we thought has to a record in HFM for maximum number of actors lip syncing in a sinle voice.

When the second song (a Mahendra Kapoor-Asha Bhonsle duet) was covered, it did not draw any attention because only audio of the song was available at that time. But when I checked up later, it turned out that its video had become available. This turned out to be just as special a picturisation as the first song from the movie. Here too all 12 actors of the first song lip sync in the same voice (Mahendra Kapoor this time) whereas Sona has the voice of Asha Bhonsle all for herself.

The third song is chronologically the first song of the movie. This club dance cum cabarat dance song is the movie opening song as the titles beginn to appear on the screen. This Asha Bhonsle solo song seems to be lipsynced by several females including one or two main dancers. Irequest our knowledgeable readers to help identify these dancers.

The fourth song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Sona.

Here is the fifth and final song of “Badnaam Farishte” (1971) to appear in the blog. It is sung by Rafi and chorus. It is the title song cum theme song of the movie. Thankfully it is a background song, though the debutant actors are visible in this picturisation as well.

With this song, all the five songs of “Badnaam Farishte” (1971) get covered in the blog. This movie thus joins the list of movies that have been YIPPEED in the blog.

“Badnaam Farishte” (1971) becomes the 1600th movie to get YIPPEED in the blog. These 1600 YIPPEED movies contain over 11100 songs. So one can say that these YIPPEED movies account for 55 % of the songs covered in the blog. This also means that out of 5210 movies covered in the blog, we need to look at just 3600 unYIPPEED movies in order to cover more songs in the blog. It would be interesting to reach a stage when run out of movies that could be YIPEED. I would love to look forward to that day. 🙂

For now here is this background song cum theme song cum title song of “Badnaam Farishte” (1971).
