“Dharm Patni”(1953) was produced by Harishchandra Rao and directed by Ramchandra Thakur for Harishchandra Pictures, Bombay. This movie had Nirupa Roy, Mahipal, Moti Sagar, Durga Khote, Yashodhara Katju, Neeroo, Mona, Kumar,Gope, Bhagwan Das, Dalpat, Eruch Tarapore, Hamid Majnu, Dewaskar, Maqbool, Deepak Naidu, Parvati Bai, Anwari, Vijaybala,R.S. Diwan etc in it. Bhagwan had made a guest appearance in this movie.
“Dharm Patni”(1953) had six songs in it. Five songs have been covered in the blog.
Avinash Scrapwala, who presented the previous song from the movie, gave the story of the movie in that post as found online. Here is the story:
It is about a woman who is shunned by her husband after marriage. When the community start to mock the woman about her being separated from her husband for over 4 years, her widowed mother, Ganga, goes to plead with the latter to take back her daughter. And when he refuses, she instructs her daughter to obey her husband at any and all costs and passes away.
The woman moves in with her husband and his family, which includes his father, mother – a devotee of Sachidanand; and sister, who is married. Her husband makes it clear that he is not interested in any relationship with her, as he is involved with other woman, who he hopes to marry after their divorce, and gives her 3 months to pretend that they are married. The woman accepts this condition and soon takes charge of the family, fires wasteful servants, organizes the household, befriends her in-laws to finally get accepted by her husband.

“Dharm Patni”(1953) a woman oriented movie, had six songs, all female solo songs. Asha Bhonsle, Mubarak Begam and Sulochana Kadam sang one song each, and they were the first three songs to be covered in the blog in that order.
Remaining three songs were sung by Madhubala Jhaveri. Two of these songs have been covered.
Shewan Rizvi penned two songs. Bharat Vyas was the lyricist for the other four songs.
Here is the sixth and final song from “Dharm Patni”(1953) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Madhubala Jhaveri. Bharat Vyas is the lyricist.Music is composed by Jamal Sen.
Only audio of the song is available. My guess is that the Madhubala Jhaveri songs may have been picturised on the leading lady who played the title role,viz Nirupa Roy.
Picturisation of only one song is known. Videos of other songs are not available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of the other songs.
