Pancham’s Music – Eighties (1981-1990) Part-2 –Post-9 (1981)
In the series of “Pancham’s Music – from the Eighties” we are onto Part-3. The song being presented in this post is from the movie ‘Kachche Heere-1981’.
In the year 1981 Pancham composed music for 116 songs in 20 movies.
Today’s movie ‘Kachche Heere’ was directed by Narinder Bedi, for ‘N.P. International, Bombay’. It was produced by N.P. Singh. Narendra Bedi who directed this movie also wrote the story of this movie.
I have not watched this movie.It is mentioned online that Narinder Bedi wanted to repeat the team of his successful movie ‘Khote Sikkey-1974’ in this movie. However, things did not work out as he wished. The movie as well as the songs of this movie went unnoticed I think.
This movie got delayed in making and it was was finally released to theatres in 1982 after getting its censor certificate in 1981 (10 July 1981). The records for this movie were released in 1980.
Narinder Bedi repeated several members of cast and crew members of ‘Khote Sikkey’ in this movie. The cast of ‘Kachche Heere’ had Feroz Khan, Reena Roy, Danny Denzongpa, Narendra Nath, Sudhir, Paintal, Shakti Kapoor, Kanwar Ajeet, Komila Virk, Dev Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, Maruti, Sundar, Shubha Khote, Viju Khote, Nathuram, Keerti, Kamal Kapoor, Shashi Kiran, Mac Mohan, Balbir, Jankidas, Birbal, Mohan Shery, Fansuk, Assi, Dulari, M. Rajan, Master Butu, Helen, Aruna Irani with debutant Pannu and others.
‘Kachche Heere-1981’ has four songs in it which were all written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by R.D. Burman (the successful combination that created the great song ‘jeewan mein tu darnaa naheen’ for the movie ‘Khote Sikkey-1974’.).
However the songs for this movie ‘Kachche Heere’ failed to become popular and they were forgotten alongwith the movie.
Nevertheless the song under discussion is a nice song to. Lyrics of this song by Majrooh Sultanpuri are reminiscent of the song ‘jeewan mein tu darnaa naheen’. This song gets played in the background as titles of the movie appear on screen and Feroz Khan is seen riding a horse with his signature hat travelling in a hilly terrain. The song is sung by Kishore Kumar accompanied by chorus.
Here, I would also like to take a look on the songs composed by Pancham that found places in the annual Binaca Geetmala of 1974 and 1981.
So, here is the list where the song is mentioned along with their ranking, movie name and year of the movie, in the Annual Binaca Geetmala of that year.

From the above list we can see that eight Pancham compositions featured in the Binaca Geetamala final of 1974. There were nine Pancham compositions in the Binaca Geetmala final of 1981. Out of these nine songs of Pancham as many as four songs were from the movie ‘Shaan-1980’
Here is this Pancham composition from “Kachche Heere”(1981) which failed to get popular and did not get played much in Binaca geetmala, and as such failed to make it to the list of songs that figured in Binaca geetmala finals.
