This suspense movie had Rajesh Khanna, Kim, Danny, Suresh Oeroi, Aruna Irani, Lalita Pawar, Jagdeep, A K Hangal, Shashikala, Mukri, Shubha Khote etc in it. In olden days, many relations were one sided relations in real as well as reel lives. For instance, it was a seller’s market then and the buyer had to be content with whatever he got. In education, teacher would teach and the pupils would listen. Pupils were discouraged from asking questions in case they had any doubts.

When one thinks of a bolt of lightning, it recreates in the mind the crackling sound of particles in the air subjected to currents of extremely high voltage, streaks of very very bright light zig-zagging across the sky, the rumbling sounds of thunder that follow the flash of light in a matter of few seconds. People who have witnessed bolts of lightning at very close quarters recount the intensity of both the sound and the flash of light. Sound of the crackling air, the sound of thunder, the blinding flash, and the rush of moving air at very close quarters. Whether from a distance, or a close quarters, this display of light and sound and movement is a gripping experience, for those who have an appetite for it.

‘Kaali Ghata'(1980) was a suspense thriller movie with Rekha having a double role. Shashi Kapoor played the male lead. Music was by Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyricist was Anand Bakshi. Actually my favourtie song in this film is “Kaali Ghata Chaayi prem rut aayi” Which is either a solo Rafi or Lata -Rafi duet. Various links are giving different description of that song. I sent the lyrics of that song long ago, but it is posted recently on the blog. Listening to the haunting music and echo sound of that song on our old Philips Radio was an amazing experience. That sound still haunts me and I have heard the song many times on FM radio too but it is not the same.
