‘Kaali Ghata'(1980) was a suspense thriller movie with Rekha having a double role. Shashi Kapoor played the male lead. Music was by Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyricist was Anand Bakshi. Actually my favourtie song in this film is “Kaali Ghata Chaayi prem rut aayi” Which is either a solo Rafi or Lata -Rafi duet. Various links are giving different description of that song. I sent the lyrics of that song long ago, but it is posted recently on the blog. Listening to the haunting music and echo sound of that song on our old Philips Radio was an amazing experience. That sound still haunts me and I have heard the song many times on FM radio too but it is not the same.

“Deedaar e Yaar” (1982) was a Tirupati Pictures Production. It was directed by H S Rawail. The movie had Jeetendra, Rekha, Rishi Kapoor, Tina Munim, Nirupa Roy, Dr Shreeram Lagoo, Deven Verma, Reena Roy etc. in it.

“Dharti Kahe Pukaar Ke” (1969) was A Vaishali Films Production. It was produced by Deenanath Shashtri and directed by Dulal Guha. The movie had Jeetendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Nanda, Kanhaiya Lal, Nivedita, Tarun Bose, Asit Sen, Durga Khote, Abhi Bhattacharya, Jagdev, Leela Mishra, Manmohan, A. K. “Rangoli” (1962) was an R S B Films Production. It was directed by Amar Kumar. the movie had Kishore Kumar, Vyjyantimala, N. Hussain, Jagdev, Sadhana (not the famous one), Jeevan, Ulhas, Sulochana, Khurshid, Durga Khote, Iftekhar, Dhumal etc in it.

“Ghar” (1978) was based on a sensational news published in 1970s which made headlines all over India and even the PM of the country took note of it. But a few years later, the news reporter of this news item revealed that the headline was a figment of his imagination and nothing like this had happened.

“Aakraman” (1975) was a title that came as a surprise to me. Those were the days when Hindi movies did not have titles in Textbook Hindi. “Aakraman” is Hindi/ Sanskrit for “Attack”. The tendency for movie makers those days was the use a word like “Hamla” instead of “Aakraman”, even though it was a word of normal usage in Hindi textbooks. That way one needs to give some credit to the makers of this movie that he used a Hindi title for a Hindi movie.

“Jahaan Pyaar Miley” (1969) was an L R T Productions movie, where L R T stood for Lekh Raj Tandon, who produced as well as directed this movie. The movie had Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Helen, Badri Prasad, Zeb Rehman, Iftekhar, Naaz, Anjali Kadam, Nazir Hussain, Nadira, Kamal Kapoor, Jeevan, Sulochana, Narendranath, Pinchoo Kapoor etc in it.

Mil jaaye to mitti hai kho jaaye to sonaa hai
This couplet of a ghazal written by Nida Fazli, the modernist Urdu poet and writer, made him famous among mushaira goers. Later this full ghazal was sung by Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh sometime in late 70s bringing Nida Fazli in the limelight in a wider canvass including Hindi film industry.
