Today (11 August 2020) happens to be Janmashtmi, the day Lord Krishna, the avatar of Lord Vishnu was born in the Dwapar Yug. His earlier avatar was in the Treata Yug and that was as Lord Ram, and the birthday of Lord Ram is called Ramnavami.

Lord Ram was a serious, sombre, idealism personifieed avatar of Lord Vishnu whereas Lord Krishna was a playful, more human like avatar. Playful and non serious he may be, but he meant business when the situation so demanded. And do not fiorget, it is Lord Vishnu, who gave us Bhagwatgeeta ka gyaan.

It should come as no surprise to note that Lord Krishna has been a favourite God of Hindi movies and there have been a good number of Lord Krishn related songs in Hindi movies.

Today (1 june 2020) is pehli taareekh. And it turns out that today is World Milk Day. In India, National Milk Day falls on a different day, namely 26 November, which is the birthday of Verghese Kurien, who brought White revolution( Milk revolution) in India.

When I was growing up, India was a desperately poor country. It was deficient in foodgrains and also milk. Our history books wistfully recalled those days in distant past when India was a prosperous country where “दूध की नदियाँ बहा करती थीं” ( “doodh ki nadiyan baha karti thi).
