“Sunayna” (1979) was a Rajshri Productions movie which was inspired from Charlie Chaplin’s movie The citylights(1931). Charlie Chaplin’s movie was a silent movie even though the era of talkies has begun. Hindi movies cannot be silent by any stretch of imagination. And this movie had some lovely songs in it,including Naseeruddin Shah (playing Charlie Chaplin’s role) singing a romantic song(Sunayna sunayna..aaj in nazaaron ko tum dekho) for his lady love.

“Mela”(1948) was produced by S U Sunny and Hila Wadia for Wadia Films. S U Sunny also directed this movie. This movie had Dilip Kumar, Nargis, Jeevan, Roopkamal, Amar, Rehman, Baby Zubaida, Nurjehan, Chandabai, Allaudin, Khalil, Abbas, Maqbul Jr., Gulam Mohmed Jr. etc in it.

“Chambal Ki Kasam” (1980) was a M P D Production movie. It was produced by V L Muralidhar and directed by Ram Maheshwari. The movie had Raj Kumar, Moushumi Chatterjee, Nirupa Roy, Farida jalal, Usha Kiran, Shatrughna Sinha, Ranjeet, Pradeep Kumar, Paintal, Amjad Khan, Jagdish Raj, Nazir Hussain, Uma Khosla, Bhagwan Dada, Ramayan Tiwari etc in it.

“Jahaan Tum Wahaan Ham” (1968) was a movie that was started with Raj Kumar, Feroz Khan and Mumtaz in lead roles. But the movie was shelved due to financial difficulties. By that time a few songs of this movie had already been recorded, but their records were not released at that time.

“Tum na aaye sanam shamma jalti rahi” is one of those rare gems which involves all B-grade names apart from the peerless Lata Mangeshkar herself.
It is her sublime rendering of this number on a lesser light of that period, namely, Vijaya Chowdhary, with B-grade Bollywood hero Ranjan sometimes in the frame.
