Once I post the century post in the blog, I heave a big sigh of relief and tell myself that I am free from tension as the next century post is far far away. So it came as a surprise to me that the next cenbtury post for the blog has arrived. I thought that the previous blog century post had appeared just a few days ago ! How can we reach the next century so fast ? On checking up, I realised that the previous century post viz blog post number 18500 has appeared on 14 september 2024. Today is 3 November, so fifty days have passed. 100 songs in 50 days are to be expected, even with the slow rate of posts that we have settled into now a days.

The cast of this movie is mentioned as Ashok Kumar, Pran, Prem Nath, I.S. Johar and Vidya Sinha. Geet Kosh lists four songs from this movie leaving space for other songs that would have been recorded for this movie but which are not known or may be these were not released on records.

The movie had Dharmendra, Rajshree, Mehmood, Nazir Hussain, Chaand Usmani, Deven Verma, Badri Prasad, Sunder, Man Mohan, Madhavi, Kundan, Kesho(Keshav Rana), Parasram, Kirti aka Kirti Kumar, Raj Dewan, Dinanath, Johnny Whiskey, etc. O.P. Nayyar was the music director for songs written by S.H. Bihari. Mahendra Kapoor, Mohd. Today’s song is from the film ‘Naya Raasta’ (1953).
Today is 19th September, and this is my 14th post in this month already. Before this post, I had written 11 posts continually every day, but I had to break the marathon as the final work on my two new books came up and I had to attend to that. I completed that and work for my 7th book started immediately. Thus, writing posts and working on the books takes up my whole day, coupled with the routine household duties and other jobs. Sometimes I wish I had at least 30 hours in a day !

Today’s song is a qawwali from the film Bade Bhaiya-1951.
The film was made by Super Pictures. produced and directed by the Banner owner- Aspy Irani, who was the husband of actress Husn Banu, daughter of yesteryear actress Shareefa. Aspy Irani was Aspindiar Hormusji Irani, an expert famous for handling Action films and C grade movies. From 1936 to 1986 he directed 55 films. Some of his known films were Johnny Walker’s Naya Paisa, Qaidi No. 911, Shabnam, Baadal etc. One day he left his home for work on 23-11-1986 and simply disappeared into thin air ! Rigorous searching by the Bombay Police did not succeed and he was declared a “missing person” forever !

#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #

In this post I am presenting a ‘Qawwalee’ song which is one of my ‘favorite genres’ of songs. So when browsing HFGK Vol-IV (1961-1970) I noted that there is a ‘Qawwalee’ in the list of songs from this movie ‘Badmaash-1969’, I immediately checked for its link and it was already available on internet. This movie ‘Badmaash-1969’ made its debut on the blog on 23.05.2018 when our respected Shri Sudhir jee presented its song ‘uthhaa palkein milaa nazren’ on the blog. This movie was then a ‘missing movie’ for the blog.
