I had discussed in my earlier articles, a couple of lesser-known actors like Shaam Kumar and Keshav Rana, who have worked in a large number of films but mostly remained unidentified for the general film audience. Entire month of october and first half of november saw India awash in cricket mania. ODI World cup cricket was being held in India from 5 october 2023 to 19 november 2023.
As games progressed, we found India keep winning one match after another. They won all their nine group matches and finished top of the table. In contrast, other teams had to scramble and fight hard to qualify for the semi finals. When the group matches were over, India were at the top with nine wins, South Africa and Australia, with seven wins each were second and third. New Zealand, with five wins took the fourth and final semi final position. Other six teams, including England the defending champions fell by the wayside.

Today (13 October 2023) we pay our tributes to the ‘versatile genius’ Kishore Kumar (04.08.1929 – 13.10.1987) on his thirty-sixth ‘Remembrance Anniversary’.
Much has already been written about Kishore Kumar in the media and on this blog too. So I am not going to repeat the same today. But I would like to mention that Kishore Kumar will be discussed till HFM exists on this planet. Much will be written about him till the HFM exists on this planet. People of future generations will keep coming across his songs and his biography and his acting and musical skills and his writing skills and his directing skills and … we can go on adding about this multifaceted personality, and a simple yet sometimes eccentric human being.One needs to into depth into his life to understand Kishore Kumar fully. So people will keep discoving facts about him.

‘Tumhaari Sulu’ (2017) was produced under the banner of T-Series and Ellipsis Entertainment and was directed by Suresh Triveni. Vidya Balan and Manav Kaul were in the lead roles, supported by Neha Dhupia, Vijay Maurya, Uday Lagoo, Malishka Mendonsa, Mahesh Pillai, Seema Taneja etc. Anshuman Khurana made a special appearance as himself. The film’s music director, Santanu Ghatak also acted in the film as himself.

Today’s song is from the film Parichay-1954.
When I sat to write this post, suddenly I realised that in the last 20 posts, I have written 16 posts ( a cool 80 %) on songs from films of the 50’s. Normally I try to have a mix of songs from different decades – my favourites being the 30’s and the 40’s – so that the readers have some variety, while reading the posts. This time somehow, the songs from the 50’s seem to have overtaken all other songs !

As per Hindu mythology, the Sun god is travelling in the sky on a chariot pulled by seven horses. After pulling the chariot for a long time, the six horses are tired. It is the seventh horse who remains and continues to pull the chariot signifying it to be the horse of dreams and aspirations for the future. In 1952, Dr Dharamvir Bharati published his novella, ‘Suraj Ka Saatvan Ghoda’. I read the novella in full which is available online. The novella is written in narration style in which the protagonist, Manik Mulla narrates to his three friends, three separate romance stories relating to three girls. What is of interest is that Manik Mulla is not only the narrator of the stories, but he is also the characters in all the three stories who loves these three girls at different points of time in his life. As Agyeya said in his foreword to the novella, ‘Suraj Ka Saatvan Ghoda’ is not the one story comprising three stories, but three stories constituting one story. The author, in his introduction, has revealed that during his early period of writing, he was influenced by Marxist objectives rather than hardcore Marxism. Mukesh and his Composers – 28
‘Kal Subah’ was an unreleased film which was in the making during the 70’s. It was also probably the film’s composer Binay Bhushan’s first and last film. The director was GS Madhup and the production house belonged to Shringaar Films. I could not fetch details about the actors in the unreleased film. I request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie.
