In Bollywood movies, most songs are lip synced on screen by actors. But there are some songs that are played on the background and the actors on the screen are not required to lip sync these songs. I have posted quite a few songs of this nature. All these days, I failed to realise that I should categorise these songs as background songs.

Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs are some of the most loved songs in Bollywood movies. Sometime ago, I had wondered what I was going to do if I run out of these Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs to post. Well, I have posted over 2500 songs in this blog, and I find that I still have many Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs not yet posted. So I still have lots of ground to cover.

I had posted a superb comedy song from “Parivaar” (1956) in the past which was sung by Kishore Kumar and picturised on himself. I now find that this movie, apart from this comedy song, had some superb semi classical songs sung by Lata and Hemant Kumar.

Small time Bollywood movie producers tended to make movies of historical / mythologicals subjects in 1950s and 1960s. Most of these movies were C grade movies and the mainstream movie watchers kept away from them.

Haay re haay neend nahin aaye

This song was one of the most popular songs with one and all during its day. And as happened with me quite often those days, I was not aware about the details of this song. I could identify the voice of Rafi and Lata but that was all. In fact I did not know those days that a song had a lyricist and a music director too. I thought that the singer did everything himself/ herself. And of course I had no idea which movie it was from.
