“Andolan”(1951), a “historical” movie, was produced by Harnam Motwane and directed by Phani Majumdar for Motwane Limited, Bombay. The movie had Kishore Kumar, Shivraj, Krishnakant, Sachin Shankar- Dancer, Parshuram, Tiwari Junior, Manju, Pushpa, Sushma, Shekhar,D G Bhojwani, Sharad Pandey,Naresh Malhotra,Gauri Devi,Shivji Bhai etc in it.

There were five songs in this movie. Four songs have been covered in the blog.

Here are the details of the songs already covered in the blog:-

SNo in Blog Song Title Singer/s Lyrics Posted On Remarks
9170 Subah ki pehli kiran tak zindagi mushqil mein hai Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Shanti Sudha Ghosh Niaz Hyder 18 December 2013 Song sung by three singers
13986 Vande Maataram Parul Ghosh, Sudha Malhotra, Shailesh Kumar, Manna Dey Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay 26 January 2018 Song sung by four singers
18471 Ram naam ras peeje manwaa Arun, Usha Meera Bai 27 August 2024
20001 Radha ne kiya singaar kyun Parul Ghosh Indeewar 12 March 2026

It is interesting to note that the four songs that have been covered in the blog were sung by different number of singers. One song is a solo, another a duet, another sung by three singers, another by four singers. As many as eight different singers were used. Four lyricists were used for these songs. One of the “lyricist” was Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay whose patriotic song “Vande Mataram” was used in the movie and he was credited as the lyricist of this song. Another “lyricist” was Meera Bai.

Pannalal Ghosh was the music director. His wife (Parul Ghosh, sister of Anil Biswas) and daughter (Shanti Sudha Ghosh) were among the singers of this movie. Other singers were Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Sudha Malhotra, Shailesh Kumar, Arun and Usha. I am not sure who were the singers mentioned as Arun and Usha. Arun could well be same as Arun Kumar Mukherjee.

Here is the fifth and final song from “Andolan”(1951) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Parul Ghosh. Indeewar is the lyricist. Video of the song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the actress lip syncing the song as well as the man in deathbed who is being discussed in the song as “Prabhu charnon mein aaya pujaaree”.

With this song, all the five songs of “Andolan”(1951) are covered in the blog. The movie thus joins the list of movies that have been YIPPEED in the blog.

Hullo all in Atuldom

11th October. A day when all fans of the star of the millennium go on overdrive to wish him on his blog page, Facebook page, Twitter handle etc. He also has kept pace with these new age phenomena and is very active on these social networking sites, either himself or through his well-paid staff. I am no different, I also wish him on his twitter and blog page (in existence for the last 10 years), and wait for a day in my life when I may get a chance to see him in person- my family thinks I am crazy, never mind that 🙂 . (The closest I have come to standing with him is when I visited Madame Tussauds in London, in 2015). So is the case with our blog, I try to write a post every year for this date.

Happy Birthday to you Dear Amitabh Bachchan.
