In Bollywood movies, the main theme of the story is love between the lead actors. One variant of this theme in 1960s was love affair between a doctor and a nurse. “Dil Apna Aur Preet Paraayi” (1960) is a movie on this theme that readily comes to mind. Here Meena Kumari, the nusre has a one sided crush on Raj Kumar, the doctor. This movie and this theme must have appealed to the movie makers, because a few more movies like this followed in its wake.
