During 1948-50, Dilip Kumar-Kamini Kaushal was a much talked about lead pair having worked in ‘Shaheed’ (1948), ‘Nadiya Ke Paar’ (1949), ‘Shabnam’ (1949) and ‘Aarzoo’ (1950). All these films were successful at the box office. Then why is it so that this successful lead pair did not work together in any films after ‘Arzoo’ (1950)? There is a story behind it but before that let me share Kamini Kaushal’s profile in brief which I found unusual and interesting. “Jogan” (1950) was a Ranjit Film Company Production. It was directed by Kidar Sharma. This movie was a landmark movie in many respects.

Musically speaking, this movie was a musical blockbuster. As many as ten songs from this movie have discussed in the past and still we are not done with this movie. 🙂

हाँ भई, होली हो और गीतों में रंग न हो तो, तो क्या मज़ा है, हाँ?

बस, भला हो उस ऊपर से ideas देने वाले का। गाने में एक से ज़्यादा आवाज़ हो तो पंक्तियों को color code कर दो। और फिर देखो गीत की लाईनें पढ़ने का मज़ा। और होली के दिन तो बस मज़ा रंगदार गीतों का ही है। सो, पेश है एक ऐसा ही रंगदार पंक्तियों वाला गीत – होली भी और रंग भी, दोनों ही गीत में गुथे हुये मिल गए।

I had mentioned in one of my earlier write-ups that all the songs from the film ANMOL RATAN (1950) were very rare to get in the 70s even with the individual collectors. Though the film failed miserably at the box office, all the songs from this film were the forgotten ‘ratans’ (gems). We are fortunate that majority of the songs from this film are now available on the internet as audio clips. There are 11 songs in the film of which 5 songs have been discussed in this blog.
